My doctor has given me Lunesta, Ambian & Ambian CR which all help for a few hours then I’m up again. Is there any body out there on any other prescription sleeping pills that work all night?

1) avoid any caffeine, chocolate, alcohol – all known to interfere with sleep cycles. 2) Try an antihistamine about 1 hour before bed – benadryl is good take 50 mg (available in 25 mg capsules in any pharmacy). 3) If you cannot tolerate the drowsiness you may see during the day with benadryl try melatonin – some patients get major improvements with this drug. 4) Ensure your thyroid functions have been checked – an over active thyroid will give sleep disturbances, about the only significant medical problem that will. If you are still wanting medication it is best to talk to your doctor especially if you take other medication. I see others have listed Trazadone but also Elavil (small doses)will work well.Good luck on finding the right drug or combination.
you may try something a little different. if traditional sleep meds aren’t helping, some antidepressants can fill that need. for instance, trazadone is often prescribed at bedtime for insomnia and seems to work well.
