My vet told me it is OK to give my dog Benadryl when she has itchy skin, (she has a skin condition). I forgot what the dosage is. I bought Children’s Liquid Benadryl. I know the pill dosage is 1mg per pound, but, what is the dosage for the liquid formula?

First, I’m not asking if I can give my dog benadryl. He has allergies and this is already what the vet recommended. I accidentally bought the CVS brand, and I want to be sure that is ok and won’t make a difference. I want to give him the smallest amount possible because he’s 11 pounds; is one pill too much?

We are needing to clean out my dogs ears as they are really bothering him. The only thing he is ADAMANT that we don’t do so. He’s a very close to the ground, sturdy dog so he is hard to wrangle. We want to get a safe sleeping pill to konk him out for a couple hours so we can clean his ears out without him freaking out on us. Does anyone know of a good, safe pill for this?
To everyone saying you can’t give a dog a sleeping/anxiety pill to make them sleep or at least sleepy-like is wrong…The vet has done this to my dogs before and I can’t afford to go to the vet. So I was looking for a safe one I could give my dog instead of paying the OUTRAGEOUS prices they charge. Thank you to everyone truely trying to help.

The vet has said that we can give our cat Children’s Benadryl for her allergies. She finds the small section of pill in her food and hates when we use a syringe to put liquid Benadryl down her throat. Is there any better method or maybe type of Benadryl that would be easier?

I have a 20 lb, Australian Cattle Dog and an 80 lb Border Collie. We have to take a 12 hour car trip. Neither likes long car trips. Was going to get something from my vet but a friend of mine said that Benadryl works just as well

My vet told me to give my dog benadryl for his allergies and I was wondering if it was okay to give him the liquid form. I heard it was bad for them due to the alcohol content. Is children’s benadryl good?? pills?? gel capsules?? Also the vet told me I should give him 25 mg twice a day. He is 21 lbs, but it seems like too much to me.

I’m a dog trainer and during work this afternoon my dog was fed treats through out a 4 hour period. He started coughing about 20-30 mins after I started feeding him the treats and the cough has progressively worsened except for when he’s asleep. Could this be an allergic reaction to his treats? Can I give him Benadryl? and how much is safe for a 35 pound adult dog?
He has developed a cough several times before with these treats just not his bad, I’ve always dismised it to thinking he was just eating them too quick. The treat I’m using with him is cubed Natrual Balance Roll. Beef flavor.
I cannot call my vet and ask, it’s 11:30 pm here
Come to think of it he has had a funny rash on his belly which happened to clear up during winter break when he was not getting any treats because he was not working.(he’s a demo dog)
He’s alseep now and quiet, so I’ll let him rest and see what happens, I’ll also be changing his treats and see if that doesnt make a change with his rash and cough during classes. If he’s still coughing Monday he’ll be going straight to the vet. Thank you for the help. I’ll choose a best answer when I find out whats wrong
thanks again.

My vet said 1 mg per pound. So I’m planning on giving him 4-5mg of liquid children’s benadryl. But my question is how long before the car ride should i give him the medication? And should i give it to him every 6, 7, 8, or more hours?

The vet told me to give my dog benadryl for bumps on his leg, most likely an allergic reaction, but I am unsure how much to give him. He is gone so I was curious if anyone else truly knew for sure? thanks!

My Dachschund is 6 months old and weighs 11lbs. He has been scratching like crazy for the past 2 months. Vet said for us to change food to Science Diet. We did, and it didn’t do a thing. He doesn’t have fleas and his skin doesn’t flake. The scratching seems to be getting worse. I’ve heard you can give a dog Benadryl, but I don’t know how to figure how much to give him.

My 8 month old puppy gets car sick. One of my friends told me that they give their dog Benadryl so they sleep during the trip. They said their vet told them to give 1/2 tablet for every 25 lbs. As a test I gave Bauer 1 tablet tonight, and there was no effect at all. He still ran around like a wild man all night.
Is it ok to give him more? I am thinking about trying 1.5 tablets tomorrow night. I need to knock him out for my 4 hour drive on Wednesday.
Thanks in advance for your help

Is it ok to give my 5 month old puppy benadryl after a shot? My vet said that if she is sore where she got the shot, we can give her some benadryl. I’m not sure how much to give her… She weighs 3 lbs.
The vet is closed right now. I read somewhere that 1mg per pound. Does that sound OK to anyone?
