My cat is a terror in the car. He vomits and goes to the bathroom on himself until we arrive at our destination. He needs to go to the vet and I have been dreading taking him. I heard benadryl could be a solution to this problem. How much should I give my cat? He weighs three pounds.

My German shepherd lab mix weighs about 25 pounds. And he is having allergic reactions to flea bites. I have given him numerous flea baths and he wears a flea coller. I can’t seem to get rid of them. He is biting and scratching the hair off him. Now a vet told me I can give him benadryl but didnt say how much. I am also wondering what the best flea medicine is. Any advise is greatly appreciated.!! Thanks.

She is constantly sneezing. We have already used the course of antibiotics given.
I happen to know you can give Benadryl to both cats and dogs for allergies. I used to work in a Vet’s office and filled many prescriptions for them. I simply have for gotten the dose of mg per lb.

Me and my guy started growing and saling Valerian plants as a summer break job and to sale to people in our hood since people have alotta pets. But since this is the hood, people might not have a vet so they come to us for cheap. No license but we need the back to school money. We grow it, let the root get moist, pluck it, then coat it in sugar so that the dog craves it and the owner keeps coming back. We gave it nicknames like "pink kiss", "wet dog", "trippy", "sweet leaf", and "barry white". But how much is safe? Is 5 grams of barry white too much in one day for a dog?

I’m taking my dog from NC to MN in December. She will be almost a year old. She is a pomeranian and she gets very excited around people ard does not like her carrier. I plan to get her used to her carrier but am still worried about her barking or whining on the airplane. Is there anything I can buy or get from the vet that would make her sleepy so she doesn’t get so excited?

i have an 8yr old rottweiler who is very anxious and excited around our newborn, i heard if you give benadryl to dogs it will calm them down. any truth to it? and health factors?
we don’t want to give him benadryl, but someone told us it would work. We did contact our vet and did give us meds but they are expensive. We are just looking into every detail so we dont have to get rid of him.

My dog is scared to death of fireworks and with tomorrow being the Fourth of July we need to give it to him since we’ll be gone and he’ll be in the house by himself.
Well he’s also afraid of thunderstorms and I just want him to geet drowsy so that it’ll calm him down.
And STOP saying that you can’t give it to dogs, every vet says that you can!

I called the vet to make an appointment because her rash is getting worse. I told the vet tech that she had licked the topical benadryl and she didn’t seem concerned. I just read the label and it says to contact a poison control center if swallowed.

I realize that sounds almost like an oxymoron.. but I dont know how else to word it haha
I checked the ingredients on both packages, Benadryl and then the off brand. The active ingredient is the same.. so is it okay to give him that instead?
Will call the vet tomorrow (everything is closed right now) Just want your opinions.
Thanks
Michael, the vet told me I could give him Benadryl. Please don’t speak out of your ass.

About a year ago, my dog had a reaction to an insect sting or bite (probably yellow-jacket or wasp). His head and ears swelled up and we panicked and ran him to the vet. It turned out not to be serious (fortunately) and the vet gave him a shot of antihistimine and a shot of a steroid. The swelling went down almost immediately and by the next day he was absolutely fine.
The vet told us to keep some Benadryl on hand and give it to him if something like that happened again, so I do have it. He also said that if the swelling subsides and the dog seems okay, there’s no need to bring him in. My question is … is it safe to give a single dose of Benadryl in that situation, before (or instead of) consulting a vet?
Yes, I have the correct dosage written down inside the medicine cabinet. And NO, I would never(!) use an antihistimine or any other human medication without prior OK from my vet. I’d call the vet anyway, just because I’d rather be safe than sorry. Just wanted to make sure the Benadryl was OK to use as a first-aid measure. Don’t know if you can imagine how scary it was to see my Setter’s head swell to Shar-Pei proportions, but I want to be prepared in case it happens again! Thanks!

My six pound Chihuahua mix has mild allergies and my vet advised me to give her a fourth of a tablet of Benadryl (25mg). How long will it take till the Benadryl wears off and approximately how long will she be lethargic? Just curious. thanks.
