I am planning to star drinking an energy drink called "Redline", which basically has the same amount of caffeine as 4 cups of coffee. This will drive me off the wall after one bottle.
My main concern is dependency. How much time should I wait before I drink the next bottle so I dont develop a tolerance to the caffeine?

I started drinking a long time ago. I found it entertaining and a great way to make boring things fun. Eventually it lead to me drinking with friends, playing beer pong, etc. I hit a discovery that it helps me to go to bed once, so I drank occasionally when i couldn’t go to sleep. Of course, I would keep drinking to go to sleep in moderation. If you drink too much you won’t have proper REM cycles and the sleep I tried to gain would become useless.
Anyways, since the first of this year till now… I believe I have had about 15 to 20 sober days. A week ago I drank one half a liter of Heaven Hill Vodka (my favorite form of alcohol). I woke up with NO hangover. For some odd reason Heaven Hill just doesn’t give me hangovers… my brother said it is because I drink it often enough that I built up a tolerance and slowly worked away hangovers. With no hangover, I drank another half a liter of HH. Two days later i drank another half liter of HH. After that I decided to slow down, so I am on my 4th sober day (after 2 months of drinking solid), but i find not drinking boring. It gets late… I watch television…
Anyone have any comments on what i should do? I wouldn’t bother slowing down normally, but I thought about it and realized I am only 18……..

I’ve been on Ambien cr for a couple of years and it doesn’t put me to sleep. Sometimes I take two and it still doesn’t work. I have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Are there stronger meds out there?
I see a psychiatrist for meds. I’ll definately tell him. It seems mostly likely I have just built a tolerance to it, as some of you have suggested.

I want to know about long term effects besides dependency. I want a serious answer, not the ones so many people like to give to make you feel incredibly dumb.
My problem is, I have trouble sleeping so I take sleeping pills on a very regular basis, OTC ones not prescription. And my tolerance to them is so high, I have to take between 8-12 of them. I want to know if there are any serious long term side effect, for example kidney failure, heart problems, and so on. I would ask a doctor but I’m a sever hypochondriac, and I hate going to doctors.

I know there are cross tolerances with all the benzodiazepines, such as if you have a tolerance to clonazepam you will thus have a tolerance to lorazepam, alprazolam, diazepam, etc., but I was wondering if you have a tolerance to one of these medications will you also have tolerance to ambien? Ambien and the benzos are nearly identical in composition. Please help with information. Please do not flag this as innapropriate; I’ve tried searching countless times for an answer and still can’t get any information. Thanks!

I have been taking 2-30mg. cap. of Temazepam 2x per week since July 2006 for horrible insomnia per dr’s directions. Per instructions it says it should take 30-60 min. for it to take effect. I have noticed & believe EVERYONE’S tolerance to drugs is different or so many people would not be sticking with drugs & trying others cuz some just DID NOT work. My Temazepam takes 3 1/2 hours minimum to take effect. Anyone else had longer tolerances and taking effect longer than the 30-60 min. per pkg. insert with Temazepam> Please any responses would be greatly appreciated. I normally have very high tolerances. I was in the hospital with Celulitis & had to be given double doses of morphine for the pain. I am 5’4" & weigh about 119 lbs. The nurse was flabergasted when she thought I would be "out" with the one injection of morphine. When she took my bp to see why the pain was so great–it was 186/96==so she knew I needed more pain relief & was amazed I needed double dose of the morphin

‘ve had chronic insomnia since I was a baby. It went unnoticed until I was in jr. high and began taking a cold capsule at bedtime when I could not sleep and that helped back then. I was taken to many doctors as I grew up but they always told my mother there was nothing wrong with me and sent me home being scolding for faking illness. I wasn’t faking. I was a very sickly child, chronically fatigue, with little interest in the world and people around me. When I am able to sleep well for at least 8 hours I feel almost normal. But without medication, my brain does not shut down enough to sleep. I quickly develope a tolerance to medications, then the doses are increased which increases the severity or their side effects. I was born a type A Personality and it kills me to sit home when I want to be working. But without a long term relief from my insomnia I cannot work . I need to find a new sleep aid that doesn’t cause me to sleep walk. I’ve already tried all the natural remedies

what are some good over the counter sleeping pills?
one of my roommates used to be a coke addict so his body isn’t used to sleeping. since he kicked his drug habit, he’s had to take sleeping pills every night to go to sleep. he built up a tolerance for tylenol PM and a few others.
what are some over the counter sleeping pills that work wonders?
:: he doesn’t have insurance so prescription meds and doctor visits are out of the question ::

I think I am, because I have been taking a prescription sleeping pill for about 5 years or more, and every so often I have to up the dose. Now it’s gotten to the point that I have to take 2 Advil pm’s along with my prescription sleeping pills……it’s so frustrating, It’s like I need horse tranquilizers or something lol.
So all I’m asking is that is possible for the body to build up a tolerance to pills?

Throughout the day I occasionally feel tired and/or droggy. Since melatonin is the hormone that makes us tired, would a melatonin tolerance make me more alert throughout the day?
I would think it would be easy to build a tolerence, if one were to take a melatonin sleeping pill every night before bed.
