I have to be asleep by 9 tonight which is really early for me. I have to wake up at 5am. I am a teenager and I think about what will happen if I don’t get enough sleep and how I will feel the next day. How can I get to bed earlier and relax my mind? I have tried calm music and taking showers and stuff like that. If there is anything else PLEASEEEE help me.

I know that teenage girls go through a point where their emotions ‘go crazy’ do to hormones, but when you are a teenager how do you know if it’s just hormones, or if it’s bipolar disorder?

Can anyone (teenager) relate to this sleeping problem?
I’m 16 and a semi-busy student in High School. My sleeping habbits have gotten rapidly this year in particular. I can never get to sleep at night and am always wanting to fall asleep in classes. I’ve tried everything and I can never get my sleep back to normal. I think I might have some sort of abxiety. On weekends and vacations I’m able to fall asleep fine at a decent time, but for some reason I think the thought of knowing that I have school the next day keeps me awake. I’m always thinking, "ok fall asleep…now" and glancing at the time. Why do I only have trouble sleeping during the school year on weekdays. Can I solve this problem on my own?

I never sleep at night anymore, I always fall asleep around 4 or 5am then wake up at 2pm. How can I shift my sleeping pattern back to normal? I try to go to bed at 12 but it doesn’t work… I’m a teenager 19 years old, and I need to get back to normal because I’m always f*cked up at work.

I’m a young and healthy teenager. Height: 5’2" & Weight: 95lbs
I go to sleep around 10 p.m. on a school night and wake up around late 5 to early 6 a.m.
I come home from school by 3 p.m.
Around 5 p.m. I take a loooong nap OR I sleep for the entire day & wake up in the morning the next day.
One day, I slept 18 hours straight.
Why do I sleep so much?
Do I have a sleeping disorder?
I’ve been sleeping so much for a long time.
Also, I’m a vegetarian. I’ve been one for two years.

I have a friend who is a teenager and her mom says that she will need to go to bed at 1 AM so she can get used to getting to bed early for school. My friend always stays up to 3 in the morning and doesn’t wake up to 12 in the afternoon. So i was wondering how long it takes so my friend’s body can get used to getting up early for school and going to bed early. In other words how long does it take to change sleeping patterns or your internal clock to change.

i’ve been having this problem for years…probably since i was a teenager. i’ll have a dream in which i think i am awake, and i’m in bed or wherever i was while i’m sleeping. but the thing is i’m always paralyzed and there is ALWAYS some other entity in the room with me – and the thing is NEVER friendly. it is always a vampire, alien, or something malevolent. so my question is – is this a sleep disorder? or just a nightmare? i always wake up freaking scared out of my mind…btw i had night terrors when i was an infant.
any help?
looks like this is it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogic_hallucination
sleep paralysis coupled with a hypnogogic hallucination.

I have a problem. I always stay up way too late on weekends, and then have trouble adjusting for weeknights. Last night I only got about 3 hours of sleep. First of all how much sleep should a teenager get to begin with, second of all is it ok to get very little sleep occasionally, third of all how do I make myself go to bed earlier?

I’m a teenager, and my life is very busy with school, dance, playing the guitar, church, and I’ll soon have a job. When I get home at night some times I may or may not sleep. It sucks because I need to stay charged for everything. I’ve also try ed listening to music, reading, or taking a shower to calm myself down before I sleep. But it doesn’t really work. So if you could please help.

I’m a 17 year old girl and in the past I would usually go to bed around anywhere from 12:30-1:30 and wake up around 6:40… so that’s about 5-6 hours of sleep and I’d be fine. But ever since September for some reason I’ve been getting the same amount of sleep and I fall asleep everywhere. I know I’m not narcoleptic but I will be sitting in the front of my class and fall asleep right in front of my teacher, it’s shocking to even me! I know I don’t get nearly as much sleep as I need for a teenager but I’ve been fine in the past! Does anyone know of a stress related sleep disorder? I think the increase in amount of school work and college applications has something to do with it!
