My girlfriend and I both have had sleeping problems for as long as I can remember. She is on some kind of prescription pill and tosses and turns all night. This tossing and turning keeps me awake because I am a light sleeper. Are there any otc sleep aids that can put me into a deeper sleep? I have no problems falling asleep, just staying asleep. Also, are there any that I should stay away from? I read that Calms Forte can give some trippy halucinations, so those are things I would prefer to stay away from. I also would prefer to not use herbal teas or supplements. Suggestions and why?

I have had daily fatigue (not caused by hunger) around 4 pm. I also had tests done (blood and saliva) showing that my cortisol levels were low (especially around 4 pm). Are there any supplements (herbs, minerals, etc…) other than the B Vitamins that can help increase my cortisol levels without causing my panic disorder/Generalized Anxiety to get worse? Any help (no matter how small) would be beneficial!

I can’t get a straight answer anywhere. It seems that hepatoxicity has been reported after ingestion of high doses, but that this was probably attributable to other substances taken with the valerian as a mixture of anxiolytic herbs. On the other hand, I have read that valerian extract alone may cause hepatoxicity because valerian supplements may contains contaminants.
Can someone help me out? 10 points for a good answer.

Okay It usually takes an hour for me to fall asleep, and I am getting tired of it. So I was wonder
if there is anyway you could fall asleep in less than 15 minutes without taking supplements or medicines.
Is there something you should eat before you go to bed? Any sleeping positions? How about relaxation methods? (but please no yoga).

I’ve been having recent bouts of severe anxiety. I don’t want to use perscription medication for this so a friend recommended valerian root. At the health food store they also recommended passion flower extract and Gaba complex. Does anyone have any advice on these supplements? I know to take the valerian root at night because it will make me tired, but what about the other two? Will they aliviate my symptoms?

I’ve been reading online about it being okay to give your dog benadryl for allergies and I was wondering if someone could tell me the mg/weight. I have a 23lb beagle/basset mix and I wasn’t sure if I should give him children’s benadryl or regular benadryl and how much? Also is there any good websites to read up about what supplements I could give him for his skin??

I recently started stacking some supplements for weight lifting. I added AMINO 2222 BCAA’s, ZMA, pH buffered Kre-Alkalyn, and GNC’s Mega Men Sport Vitapak to the protein that I was already taking. I know that the vitapak contains two energy boosters that contain a lot of caffeine so I take them early in the morning. I lift after work everyday, around 6 PM. The two times that I have taken kre-alkalyn (1500 mg) were right around this time. When I went to bed I started feeling heart palpitations and was unable to fall asleep until around 1 AM (I normally go to bed around 11 PM). I have found no research that links kre-alkalyn to sleeplessness unless it is the EFX Kre-Alkalyn PRO that contains the ingredient, kre-alkaloid. Has anyone else experienced sleep problems from taking kre-alkalyn later at night? I would greatly appreciate anybody’s input. I do not want to keep sacrificing nights of sleep to test whether Kre-Alkalyn is causing this.
Sidenote: The second time that I tried the kre-alkalyne, I did not consume any of the vitamins in the vitapak to make sure that the energy boosters and any of the other vitamins were not causing the sleeplessness.
Another sidenote: The two nights I tried kre-alkalyn were not consecutive. I did not take it on Tuesday night and slept fine. All of the other supplements in my stack were taken Tuesday.

I have been using sleeping pills and supplements for years. However in 2011 I want to be drug free and sleep without the need of any sleeping aid /pills. Any suggestions? Thank you

I am looking for a knowledgeable answer. With many prescriptions/supplements, some work significantly better when taken with food, some do not. How does ambien work out in regards to this?
Thank you!

I have no idea how Buspar reacts with other medications/supplements. I have a lot of trouble sleeping (I’ve struggled with insomnia for a while) and I was just wondering if it was OK to take the two together.

Im nervous about going on a 9 hour flight coming up in the next 2 days, and I know that once you get past security there are little stores you can go to I think. Anyway I’ll be at ORD airport and was wondering if you can buy sleeping pills there, or anyting that will surely make m pass out for a majority of the flight.
What is the best store bought sleeping supplements in your opinion?

My neurologist just prescribed me melatonin supplements for sleep and anxiety headaches. I read that melatonin supplements can lead to depression and was wondering if it’s acceptable to use 5 htp instead.

Research shows depressed people have more REM sleep, and preventing it creates a remission of depression.
I’m looking for clinically proved, OR personal experience. Any supplements? St Johns Wort maybe? Foods? Not alcohol. Tips and trick on how to stop or lessen REM length are appreciated.

I would appreciate any suggestions as to alternative treatments. Is there anything natural that has helped you with sleep problems? What herbs or supplements can you recommend. I don’t like being on these pills.
