I could never get it. Is it a stress / discomfort thing? Does the conscience get confused registering back sleeping with sleep or what? (Although I think a lot more laying on my back.)

In material science, the S-N curve is used to measure the fatigue life of a certain material. I know that "S-N" stands for Fatigue Strength vs Number of stress cycles. My question is, what does it mean by fatigue limit and endurance limit; and how do you determine them.

Whats wrong with my REM sleep?




Last summer I had a month and a half of waking up at 4 am, only to fall asleep ten to fifteen minutes before my alarm went off…It eventually stopped and I was able to regain my normal sleeping patterns…
It felt like to me, that I would go to sleep (anytime between 8-10) and finally hit my REM sleep, have a crazy dream (always different, not very memorable or particular) and then I would be kicked out of my REM pattern…unable to go back to sleep…
For some reason, at four o’clock I would wake up, and be unable to regain my deep sleep…

Only now, its happening again…I am under stress, but not an unbearable amount..I do suffer from depression…could that be whats causing it?
I’m not sure, but its tiring…

Any ideas?

Two days ago I started having severe panic attacks in the morning. The attacks usually last from 5am to 12pm, which I find rather odd…

I’ve considered several causes for the attacks, such as stress, insomnia and even that shitty synthetic marijuana I had smoked. I don’t intend to touch that shit anymore.

Any suggestions as to what the other causes may be and how I can treat this. I’m already perscribed 20mg of Lexapro, but apparently it’s not helping as much.

Ok so here is my story

Im on omega 3 for an year or such and i think this keeps my depression off cuz i dont know why im not depressed BUT im very irritated all day and easly stressed out,however i have a strange feeling of good in the morning and then i get very anxious and euphoric to the point that i can’t get out in street because im too stressed of EVERY FUKING THING THAT COMES IN MY SIDE

is it stress ? is it bipolar ?

im also social phobic ,anyone experiencing this?

Horrible sleep problems?!?




I’m having some horrible sleep problems lately. I’ve always been a person that either gets a little bit less sleep than I should, or a little bit more sleep than I should. But in the past year, things have just gotten worse. Last year I suffered from a horrible depression and either never slept at all, or slept pretty much ALL DAY! My dreams were always very intense and I never felt well rested. I went on antidepressants and although I feel it was on my own I overcame depression, those pills definitely helped me to sleep better and get my energy up. Before last summer I got off the pills, and about late fall/early winter my sleep patterns have been awful. Sure, I’ve been stressed, but what causes me to sleep for about 12 HOURS a day! And sometimes its not just in one lump-some, its a couple of hours here, and there. I’ve also been experiencing even more vivid dreams than usual (which really fuck with me knowing if Im awake or not-I dream about very realistic things, like waking up and being late, then I actually wake up and Im late haha) and some scary sleep paralysis. I’m also very paranoid at night. I’ve been accepted into college but worry about not graduating because of missing so much school-sleeping. I want to fix things NOW. I told my doctor and she says "its just stress, your a senior, all seniors are like that"-she wouldn’t even bother asking me more questions or doing any tests. Help?!

Sleep Problems/ sress?




I have never heard of this from any of my friends, but I have no problems sleeping normally but when I get stressed out I will go days even weeks at a time with no sleep. Is this a problem with stress or sleep? Just wanted some peoples imput. This has ruined this semester at college for me.

No exactly sleeping pills, but I have been taking Tylenol PM every night.

I just got out of a long term serious relationship and I am depressed and having trouble sleeping. I think the pills are helping but I am having dreams about my ex, painful ones. I have every night since it happened, which was two weeks ago. I’m sick of waking up crying because of my dreams!

Could the pills be causing me to dream every night? (I used to not) Or is it strictly the stress?

My dad has sleeping problems were in the middle of the night he feels like there is someone on him or something of alot of weight on top of him, and then he can’t breathe. He tries talking or screaming but he can’t as hard as he tries. He can’t move at all. He tries so hard to move around with much struggle and when he finally does, he wakes up and is sweating alot. This happens alot to him. Other than just a nightmare, he thinks it might be related to stress. Is there a name for this? Thanks.

how can i fall asleep quickly?




i cant fall asleep as well, i takes me more than an hour to fall asleep now,
and i have no stress at all, and i have a comfortable bed, and i dont know whats wrong with me?

I stay up till 4 or 5 and then sleep till 12 or later. I’ve had it for a month. It’s cause by stress, and no meditating doesn’t work, neither does tea, going to bed earlier and laying there, or taking muscle relaxers.
Do you think this will solve it? I’m feeling a little crazy right now b/c it’s been 22 hours, so it had better be worth it.
Ok now it’s 5 pm and i’m not feeling exhausted anymore for some reason….

I’m 14, and with the stress of school, family, friends, cute guys and just the regular teenage girl drama, I can almost never get a decent sleep! I always lay there awake, tossing and turning for at least an hour and a half every night, no matter how early I go to bed. So does anyone have any tips (ANYTHING) to help me get a better sleep? Ever since summer started, I haven’t been able to go to sleep till around 5-8am. I know, it’s a ridiculously early time to fall asleep, but my body will not rest. I end up waking up around 1pm or 3pm at the latest, and since I’m being homeschooled this year, it’s not really a problem of when I wake up so there’s no reason for me to really fix my sleep schedule.

However, I have noticed that my eyes are starting to look really sunken in and my hands sometimes shake when I’m just relaxing. (ex: watching a movie, laying down, watching tv, reading, etc.) I keep getting muscle cramps in my chest and I feel very disoriented. I know I’ve been acting out as well, but I thought it was just the birth control making me a little more sensitive to emotions. Any way, I keep feeling like I’m going to have a panic attack, and although it’s not completely out of the ordinary for me to have them, they seem to be coming a lot more frequently and I’m feeling anxious constantly.

Is it the sleeping patterns, or something else like stress?
If it is the sleeping problems, I have no idea how to fix it. I’m pretty sure I’m an insomniac because I always seem to have troubles falling asleep, especially if I am alone in my bed.

Any suggestions?

I recently concluded that i get very upset (stress, sometimes even some sort of a panic attack) when i drank some coffee (only 1 cup really). It would be logical to assume it is because of the Caffeine. However, because i can drink a few glasses of coke without a problem, i find it kind of strange…

Also, is there a way to drink something to counter (neutralize) caffeine? Sometimes the panic attack takes and heartbeats take a long time. Thank you.
