Do I need help for my sleeping problems?

I have had a "sleeping disorder" for a long time now. First of all, I am only 22. I cannot make it through an entire movie at home without falling asleep. I am usually dog tired around 9 p.m. I sleep every chance I get. I can literally fall asleep before my head hits the pillow and this is not a joke. I can sleep for 2 hours on the couch with my b/friend beside me screaming about his favorite team losing the game and not even be awakened. I am too tired to even think about sex at night with my boyfriend of 6 years, plus like I said, I’m asleep as soon as it lay down. The only change in my life is a second part time job so I work 7 days at week, Mon-Fri 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sat and Sun 5 a.m. to 1 p.m., as well as Wed. 6-10 p.m. Could this second job be contributing to this or not? I actually do get a lot of sleep because I sleep on the couch at least 2 hours before going to bed at night where I get at least 5 more hours of sleep. Should I seek help for this or what should I do? HELP

Sleep disorder?! Maybe? Help!?

Hello everyone (: goodmorning. Ok so I think I have a sleep order., either that or I’m just being a…. Person who likes to stay up. Ok so for the past week or two I wud sleep around 7-8am. Right now it’s 9am second time I stayed up this late. I wake up around 5pm every day. And today Im not gonna sleep at all and hopefully I’ll crash tonight and my sleep cycle will be right, I highly doubt it tho. Anyway, what’s wrong with me? This is my opinion on sleep: it’s such a drag! I think it’s wayyyy to much to work to sleep!… Makes no sense right? Being asleep is nice and calming huh? Well it doesn’t help when i wake up mad cuz I’ve slept the day away, and having bad dreams, not night marens just unpleasant dreams, some r good but most r not.
I’m 12 years old and I’m a girl. I’ve been doing this for a couple weeks now. And I also did this last year…. When I was 11. Idk how I got back on track for school last year, but I did. But that’s not the point, I wanna be normal!!!!
My mom has insomnia, she takes ambien. That’s the only history of sleeping disorders in our family.. Only my mom. I think idk.
Anyway, what’s wrong with me?? I mean seriously! What is wrong with me???? I want to sleep but it’s too much work!! I have to wash my face and brush my teeth and stuff, but afterwards I’m not tired… Please help me. My mom thinks I have nothing to stress over so she doesn’t believe that it COULD be a sleeping disorder. Please help. Thank you! I’m 12 and a girl. Thank you.

I was curious if there was a sleeping disorder where a person falls asleep and can’t wake up because they’re so deep asleep. Others can’t seem to wake them up either, maybe for several minutes. I’m not talking about a coma though. The closest thing I’ve found, is sleep paralysis. I wasn’t sure if what I’m asking relates to it or is the same thing. I wasn’t asking about the subject not being able to move while asleep, but basically unable to wake up out of their dreams, like they’ve fallen into a short coma or something. Not a night terror. Does such an experience exist?
Thanks for your help.

Talking to doctor about sleep disorder?

I have a few questions that hopefully you guys can help answer. First off, I have a severe, severe sleeping disorder which I have self-diagnosed as "delayed sleep phase syndrome" through extensive research on the internet. It’s been really affecting me bad lately, I’ve gone three nights this week without sleep, and it is horribly affecting my performance at work and school. I’ve decided enough is enough, and I’m going to the doctor. I’m going to tell him what I just told you, but the part I’m skeptical about is if I should tell him that the only time I can ever fall asleep at a reasonable time is when I smoke marijuana. Can he do anything if I tell him this information? I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get better but I don’t want there to be any legal reprocussions from me telling him I smoke weed. Should I leave that part out? Would it help him possibly prescribe me a sleeping aid, or would it deter him from doing so? Please help. Thanks in advance.

We’ve been treating my son for ADHD for several years and have had problems with the side effects of meds. He’s now on Strattera but it didn’t seem to be helping this school year. So we’ve increased the dose twice (he did have a growing spurt last summer – he’s 14). This still isn’t helping. Well, in going over my symptoms related to possible sleep apnea with the doctor, I had an "ah-ha" moment that my son has the same symptoms. Low and behold he does have a disorder. However it hasn’t yet been diagnosed with a sleep study (coming up next week).

So I just want to put a bug in parents’ ears that if your child is being treated for ADHD and the meds are not working, perhaps you want to speak to your doctor about the possibility of a sleeping disorder.

But for my question…. Has anybody else experienced a child at school who absolutely will not do his work and found out a sleeping disorder was the cause? Please tell me about your story and if treating the disorder helped your child do better in school.
Yes, seeing an ENT and removal of tonsils and/or adenoids is the expected treatment. Thanks for responses!
I’m agreeing that sleeping disorders should be looked into before giving drugs for ADHD. I wish someone would have asked if my son snored years ago!
Thanks for all responses…hard to choose!

I’m a young and healthy teenager. Height: 5’2" & Weight: 95lbs
I go to sleep around 10 p.m. on a school night and wake up around late 5 to early 6 a.m.
I come home from school by 3 p.m.
Around 5 p.m. I take a loooong nap OR I sleep for the entire day & wake up in the morning the next day.

One day, I slept 18 hours straight.

Why do I sleep so much?
Do I have a sleeping disorder?
I’ve been sleeping so much for a long time.
Also, I’m a vegetarian. I’ve been one for two years.

do i have some kind of sleep disorder?

i usually sleep early. except, since about 1.5 years ago, i’ve been sleeping later. Now, i only sleep about 4-6 hours a day, and im 14. this started when i’ve been doing homework late, then i’ve been sleeping later because i tend to read at night. now, at minimum,i can sleep 2 hours a day. once, i was studying and didnt sleep through the whole night. it seems like i’ve been sleeping less and less. and if i do sleep, its a sleep 10-30 minutes, then i wake up again, do something, then repeat the process. i do sleep for "periods" such as 4-8 hours, but thats only half the time of the week. when i told my health teacher, she asked me questions on my social life, family, my grades, my appetite, depression, and asked me about my life and how i am. but i am definitely happy, grades are good, i love my family, i eat very well, im healthy, i dont get sick, i have happy thoughts, and i definitely have great friends. she says it seems like an anomoly or an enigma to her. so, would this be some kind of sleeping disorder, because even though i lack a lot of sleep, im perfectly fine!!

Could i have a sleep disorder?

Ever since I was even a baby, I have had quite some trouble with sleep. My mother says that it’s because I was born at midnight. Anywho, here is my situation..
I can’t sleep at night. I don’t know why. I feel tired, but I still can’t go to sleep. If i go to sleep at 10pm, I’ll roll around for an hour. If i go to sleep at 3AM, I’ll fall asleep about 15 minutes later.
This is how i have always been. Even as a little girl, i was always able to pull all-nighters. It feels as if my body was made to stay up all night and sleep all day.
Hence, right now, it is 2:21 AM. I’m not that tired. This is early to me.
What in the world is wrong with me?
Is it possible that i was BORN with a sleeping disorder?
i have tried to get into a variety of different sleeping habits but they all never work. I can’t help but stay up late. I love the night time.
:/

wat kind of sleeping disorder causes talkin in your sleep with your eyese open ans with full sentances and gestures…becuase my husband’s ( we’r newly wedds) roommates (bescuase we’r & still in college) informed me of him talking in his sleep & being able to hold full converstions with mhim as if he was awake & he wud also be making hand gestures such as pointing or shrugging & even giving the finger…as he & his frends & roommates usually do for jokes…but just until the other night while he was home for a visit while we wer sleeping he usually just snored & just slight jumble up mumble is wat he’d do…but this time he actually had his eyes open talking to me about a car that had chrome lineing on it & was pointing to where the lineing was supposed to be & even tried to tell me where & how to turn so i’d see it in the "sun" & then wen I tryed to wake him up he believed that he had been awake the whole time & that I was telling him to wake up for no reason..& then got mad at me as if I had been sayin this to him for a long amount of minutes or that I was dilousional myself & then he had no rememberance of wat he was dreaming about

Sleeping Disorder or just lack of sleep?

For the past year, I’ve been falling asleep in my classes, whether they are interesting or not. I’ve even fallen asleep while drawing, doing hw, attending lectures, etc. Although there are times when I pull all nighters, on days when I get 7 or 8 hours of sleep, I still manage to fall asleep in my classes. Even if I take a nap during lunch, I might still fall asleep in my afternoon classes. It’s almost like I’m sleeping all the time. The only times I DO feel awake are when:

#1: drink an energy drink
#2: wake up in the morning do to the sun
#3: randomly after falling asleep in class
#4: in front of the computer unless I only got 4-6 hours of sleep the night before.

And I’m not depressed (or at least I don’t think I am..) and I’m pretty sure I don’t have mono, otherwise I would have been knocked out for a few weeks, and not really tired all year.

So, could this possibly be some kind of sleeping disorder?

Sleep disorder or ADHD? ?

Every night it takes at least an hour, 4 hours tops to get to sleep. Constently i have thoughts racing in my mind and recall memories of the past. i cant get my mind to stop thinking about these things and go to sleep. its not bad things, i usually am laughing remember all the good times. i have adhd, mostly inattentive but occasionally hyperactivity and my legs do move a lot when im in bed. i shift around a lot to. is this a sleeping disorder or just adhd?

by the way I’ve also been known to sleep talk and sleep walk if that has any importance. oh, and breath oddly
its not anxiety, the memories are typically pleasant
excersise? yes! i excersice (sorry im a bad speller) like 3 hours everyday with soccer. from like 2:30 to 4:30. sometimes i go to agility training after. thats not the problem
