Is this stupid? this is gonna sound kinda insecure..?

I am in my 4th year of university majoring in economics and in the 4th year all the classes are 3 hour seminars in which a small classroom of ppl discuss the weekly readings. Missing classes is looked down upon since you loose marks and plus it really looks like you are not taking things seriouly since most ppl at this stage of the game are plannig on some type of grad school and are presumably making mostly As and B+s. (participation overall is worth 20% of the final mark). Its not like previous years where you can miss a class here and there and no one cares/notices. At anyrate, eversince about october i have been suffering from a sleep disorder which my doctors have not been able to specifically diagnose untill lastweek – I have nocturnal myoclonus which means that my legs involuntarily spasm during sleep which apparently wakes me up about every 10 minutes (the sleeper has no memory of this) and disrupts my REM cycle, rendering me extreemly sleepdeprived – it is hard for me to be at my academic best this way as i cannot concentrate well, and am sick CONSTANTLY because lack of sleep weakens your imune system. Anyway i long ago dropped 2 of my 4 classes so that i could make good marks since the sleep thing was affecting my school work. My profs are aware of my problem and very supportive if it so i should be able to get a decent participation mark despite being absent sometimes. So now I am finally being treated for my illness. The other day, i had made a comment in class and someone responded by saying "oh yes, such and such as talking about that last time…" and some ppl giggled and rolled thier eyes at me. ‘last time’ I had an important doctors appt at the sleep clinic that i couldnt reschedule. Also, because i am severely sleep deprived, i sometimes say things that are a little strange because, well frankly its had to put sentences togeather in this state. Afterall I have trouble staying awake in class! That day it occured to me that ppl might actually be judging me for missing classes occasionaly!! Dont ppl realize that ppl have good reasons to miss classes?! Im still doing well in the classes – I have a high B+ in both of them and am aiming for an A. Are ppl actually judging me? Im not someone who generally cares what others think but this is just one more thing in my life right now that makes me go ‘ugh’.
sorry, i didnt realize that it would be that long lol!
i just started treatment the other day since my condition was only recently diagnosed specifically – before my doctors only knew it was a sleep disorder but not what kind so they couldnt treat it. Now i take pills and i feel a lot less tired

I have Sleep Problems?

I have problems waking up in the morning. No matter when i go to bed at 12 or at 9 none of my alarm clocks seem to wake me up. It literally takes someone to wake me and make sure i get out of bed, otherwise i fall right back asleep. I have tried several loud alarm clocks, even one that barks, yet all they do is wake up my family not me. I do prefer to stay up late i have trouble falling asleep early so my normal time which i fall asleep is 10 at least. I have been told this is a sleep disorder, is that true?
Yes i do dream around once a week, and to the people saying the later i sleep the later i wake up thats not true. My dad has recently made me to go to bed at 9 and yet i still dont wake up to my alarms

I wouldn’t call myself an imsoniac but I’m a light sleeper and have a sleep disorder.

Are there any kinds of herbal tea or herbs that will lead me to heavy sleep?

I heard a lavender is good but I want to try something else.
Could you refer me any herbal tea that will be helpful for my light sleeping?

I am suspect of sleep neurologists who keep pushing an apnea diagnosis as the problem (vs. narcolepsy, for example) even if a sleep study shows differently. It seems each dr. is located next door to CPAP machine rentals. I’m wondering if they are part owners or stock holders drumming up business. Just asking…
I’ve been to 3 drs. All said the same thing after stating the sleep tests only showed mild apnea. Sleep apnea is considered a sleep disorder and neurologists are usually the treating physician.

No matter how tired I am or how worn out, It takes me anywhere from an hour to three every single night to fall sleep. Ive tried doing crazy physical activity where at the end of the day, I just fall into bed and cant think of playing sports yet it still takes me an hour or two to fall asleep.

The other night, I was really really tired and it took me four hours to fall asleep!

Is this possibly a sleep disorder ? its really starting to affect my lifestyle.

How can I fall asleep faster ?

Is this a sleep disorder?

It’s been a week now that almost every night during my sleep, I abruptly wake up in terror. Last night it was because there was supposed to be a snake in my bed… I panicked so much that I woke my folks up at 4 o’clock in the morning! Other times I don’t remember the cause. Other times, I remember having woken up in terror during the night, and in the morning I find myself without as shirt or trousers of my PJ’s. I’ve had this seldom in the past, but now it has become more often. I don’t think it’s a dream that causes this, because I have had some nasty dreams in the past with no such effects. Is it a sleep disorder (night terror)? What can I do about it?

Do you know what this sleep disorder is?

I’m trying to find more information on a sleep disorder, but I can’t figure out what it’s called.
If you’ve seen the film "The Science of Sleep", you’ll know what one I’m talking about. I just found out that a girl I’m seeing has this disorder. But she’s not sure what it’s called either.

Basically, this is what it is:

Sometimes when she wakes up, she is still in a dream state and experiences dream like visions while being lucid and awake.
So in other words, all the crazy dreams that we have when our eyes are closed and sleeping, hers gets carried over to her waking moment.
So if she’s dreaming of snakes or something, when she wakes up, something in her head doesn’t click right and the dream carries over and she really see’s snakes in her room or whatever. She snaps out of it not too long after. But she says those first waking moments are VERY scary and vivid.

Does anyone know what this is called?

PS. And no….she’s not on drugs.

Is this a sleep disorder?

okay, for the past like 4 nights i have gotten between 2-4 hours of sleep. Normally i wouldnt be able to function but now its like normal. Idk why im not sleeping but its like, ill go to bed at 2 and wake up at 4 and then i feel totally refreshed. Or I’ll sleep from 1-2:30 then from 3-4 then get up. Is this insomnia or some other sleep disorder. Its not a big deal to me, but im kind of getting nervous that this will stunt my growth or something. I have never slept well (more then 8 hours) and Im 15, but now im like getting paranoid and stuff before i go to bed.

My bf is 34 y/o, 5’10" 300lbs. I believe he has a serious sleep disorder, but he doesn’t want to admit it. He says it’s his weight and doesn’t get enough sleep. First of all, He sleeps ALL the time. Right now, he doesn’t work so I know that he’s not sleep deprived, over worked or getting up early. He will fall sleep during the day.morning/evening on the computer with the mouse in his hand and sometimes wake up and continue where he left off. He has fell asleep a few times on the toilet. I have caught him several times during the day, drift off while driving and me in the passenger side. He has even fallen asleep at a red light in the afternoon. He falls asleep while I’m talking to him. What has got me asking this question is that we recently had a baby (2 weeks old) and he fell asleep while holding him on the couch and dropped him!!!!!!!! I’m so upset with this I wont allow him to hold him anymore unless he is wide awake….and I don’t know when that is. One time, he slept for almost 18 hrs straight! Help!

For over a year I’ve been tired every day, no matter how much sleep I get, no matter whether I exercise and eat healthy or not. I was on ritalin then adderall and they have hardly any affect on me. I also need a lot more caffeine than the average person to get any energy from it. Two years ago, I was so sensitive to even the smallest amounts of caffeine that it would cause a panic attack (which I don’t get anymore). I have countless, extremely vivid dreams every time I fall asleep, even if I doze off for 5 minutes & someone wakes me up, I’ll have already started dreaming. I know you aren’t supposed to enter REM sleep until after about 90 minutes of non-REM sleep. I also sometimes have the ‘paralyzed’ feeling for a short time after waking, but I don’t fall asleep in random places. Do you think there’s a chance I have a sleep disorder? Is there any treatment available for something like this?

Blue light for sleep disorder?

I have a severe sleep disorder since last year. I usually sleep at 4 or 6 am, and wake up at 12 or 2 pm. I had tried sleeping pills but they make feel with less energy during the day. I even had to change my working schedule to the afternoon because it has been impossible for me to wake up in the morning. Does someone knows at what time of the day apply blue light therapy in my particular case?

Thanks!
