Ok, so I’ve been having the worst case of insomnia as of late. It started with me just getting maybe 4 or 5 hours of sleep at night, but now it’s gotten down to where most of the time I just can’t sleep at all. I’ll stay up for days at a time without being able to sleep, then maybe sleep for like anywhere from 3 to 5 hours for two days, then it’s back to staying up for days again, and it just goes in a cycle like that. It’s weird, I don’t really feel as tired as I should from this but at the same time I’m exhausted, it’s hard to explain. It’s really getting to me mentally and stressing me out. I think the problem is I think too much. I can never seem to fall asleep because I can’t turn off my mind when i need to. There’s always stressful shit that I have to think about in my head at the wrong times, like right as I’m about to fall asleep shit just pops back up in my head. I’ve tried taking xanax before going to bed and it helps, but I don’t wanna grow dependent on them to get sleep so I stopped. Does anyone have any advice on how to cure this?

I’m going on vacation tomorrow so, of course, that means a long car ride. 4-5 hours, which is a loooooooong time for me. I usually can’t fall asleep in cars, but I really don’t want to just be sitting there, staring at the back of my mom’s seat for 5 hours.
I can’t take any medicine.
If I don’t get a lot of sleep at night, will I sleep better in the car?

hi,im 14 years old and i cant sleep at night,i have so much crap loaded on my mind and so many problems,that i cant even fall asleep,i lay in my bed thinking of the same damned thing for three hours,then i still cant sleep,and i have school,and i fall asleep in class,im getting bad grades in school because i hardly do my work,i have so many problems at home that it causes me not to sleep at night,and i usually stay up at till 3:00 am in the morning,i cant ever sleep without having terrible thoughts on my mind,please help??

i am a very light sleeper and takes a hour or 2 to get 2 sleep at night. any natural. remedies to help me get to sleep faster? thanks.

I cant sleep at night i took sleeping pills and some other stuff that tastes like crap but they don’t work. I really need some help im losing my sleep and having a hard time concentrating in class because im so tired. PLEASE HELP 
I already do go for walks and go to the gym with my friends in the evening. I dont eat or drink before going to bed heard its a health hazard

As a longtime certified napper, I find that a short rest gives me a boost to get through the rest of the day. Is this true for most of you?
Why do some people benefit from napping while others seem tireder the rest of the day?
What’s your ideal length for a restorative nap?
Do you only nap when you have not had a full night’s sleep? Or do you nap on days after you have slept well at night?
Does your napping interfere with your sleep at night?
Do you think people experience different REM cycles?
Do you nap on a full stomach or an empty stomach — or does it seem to matter?
As you have aged, have your napping habits changed?

I mean normal sleep at night. I don’t mean drowsiness due to eating, etc. Does our brain tell us our "temp folder" in our brain is full and need to re-organize? Is that the trigger? Considering we don’t need sleep to stay alive, I just want to know what trigger is.

I always have trouble sleeping unless im around people I mean i get like 2 hours of sleep at night but I wake up at 4:45am for school and it just doesnt work. I am scared of being alone and scared i will die when im sleeping or that i wont ever love anyone or they wont love me :p i mean i know its kind of stupid but is there anything that would help me sleep? I’d really apprieciate it.

I have messed up sleeping patterns and I always go to sleep really late. Somedays I feel exhausted for going to bed late and I take naps. Other days I don’t take naps even though I only had 2-3 hours of sleep at night. There is a lot going in my mind these days but it is getting better. So maybe I am having trouble resting my mind. But what should I do to get myself back to normal sleeping patterns?

I’m the kind of person who needs 10 hours of sleep at night – unfortunately, I get closer to 5 or 6 because my boyfriend and I work different schedules. Usually, I just sleep a good 12 hours each night over the weekend & I’m fine during the week. This isn’t the case this week though. Even on the weekend I felt the need to take a nap – it wasn’t just that I felt sleepy, but that I couldn’t keep my eyes open for anything. Yesterday i refused to take a nap, knowing I’d have to come to work today and wanted to get good rest at night. That didn’t happen. As soon as I went to bed, I coudln’t sleep. Mind wasn’t racing or anything like that, I just couldn’t get to sleep – then when I did, I couldn’t stay asleep.
Now I’m starting to feel drowsy again. What can I do to stop this cycle & make it through the day?

So. I’ve been to my doctor several times over a few problems I’ve been having. He is relating it to stress, work and school. About a month and a half ago I suddenly became very fatigued. All of the time. I’m always tired, and I get a good amount of sleep at night. Well, around 2 weeks I started having some sort of insomnia. It takes me FOREVER to get to sleep and then I wake up every hour on the hour like clockwork. And now to top it all off I’ve noticed my muscles are very "crampy" for lack of a better term, they’re always tight and feel like they’re going to spasm at any moment (maybe you know the sensation I’m referring to), especially in my lower legs more specifically my calves. Does anyone know if any of these conditions are linked? My doctor believes it only to be stress, but I’m rather use to work and school nothing is occuring out of the norm. ANY help would be greatly greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!

i dont take medicine for anything because i dont believe in it. please dont judge me. i just have a question to ask if you have a answer thats beautiful if not…Shut UP thanks in advance anyways, i cant sleep at night. i fall asleep then i wake back up and do the same drill all night after that. i just need to get some sleep. a little history about me i dont drink, smoke nor eat meat. i just need some sleep some body, any body help me please?

I go to bed at 2:30 to 3:00 AM almost every night i and i still don’t fall asleep %40 of time.When i go bed at a more regular time like 12:00-12:30 i will probably only fall asleep 10%-15% of the time. Things are even wrose when school is going on i only get between 5-6 hours of sleep at night sometimes less or no sleep at all. I haven’t had any major tramus in my life, i don’t drink to much caffiene, i exericse EVERYDAY. I have drank a little before at parties and stuff but in past week i have been drinking every night to try and help my self sleep at little easier. I understand this could lead to a serious problem. By some people i am viewed as a very angry person i think my lack of sleep causes my grumpyness and i think that the alcohol makes it even worse. Do you think i have a condition, what do you make of all this?
