We have put our son in a toddler bed. It has been about 3 months because he began crawling out. He has always been pretty well about going to sleep, however lately he wants to fuss and fight when its nap time. He will not stay in his bed he will get up. What can i do? We have tried changing several times for naps nothing works. However, he definately needs the nap other wise he is cranky and cannot stay awake beyond 6.
I did NOT put him in a toddler bed too early. He would climb out of his crib. Therefore it was unsafe!

Can anorexia cause sleeping problems?

I’m not dangerously underweight, but I was diagnosed with anorexia a couple of months age, because I wouldn’t eat and when I would eat. I would purge several times.
So I was just wondering if my sleeping problems could be due to this? I’m constantly tired during the day, but can’t sleep when it comes to when I can.
Please Help!

My father was taking one or the other sleeping pill and also drinking. falling, not remember, and mood changes happened. Once he parked the car into the garage and forgot to shut it off till the next day. The doctor did nothing to stop this. I called several times, this past 2 months. One night he fell once again and not knowning where he was. He also said he hit his head after getting him back to bed. He died that night and the doctor says he was old and had health problems. I do not believe this. This is not why he died. Taking Ambien CR or Rozerem is pretty powerful sleeping pills. And having a doctor who knows his patient is also a heavy drinker should have his license pulled. Has anyone dealt with either of those two sleeping pills? I need help. Thank You

I have too much REM sleep?

I go to bed at 10:30 every night, and wake up several times (2-4) just to wake up to pee. Even if I don’t drink water, my body will wake up to use the bathroom and hardly anything will come out, it’s just something my body makes me do. I will even go to the potty half asleep, and dream while this is going on and be awake at the same time. I even heard somebody whisper and it scared me but I knew it was a dream.

Throughout the night I have dream after dream after dream and they are so messed up and abstract.

When I lacked sleep, I didn’t get much REM, or didn’t remember anyway.

Do you think maybe I am getting too much sleep? I usually wake up around 7:30. I’m thinking about waking up earlier and staying awake.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
I don’t want to remember my dreams.
I’m 24 years old.

Recently, I have had some stomach problems (loosely diagnosed as gastritis) and have been taking medication and eating a strict diet for almost a month. No matter what I eat, I always feel like my stomach is "unsettled" with the food inside and sometimes it plain hurts (like it’s being squeezed or sometimes, being stabbed). Haven’t had much improvement and even more recently, I’ve been unable to get to sleep. Usually I stay awake until 4-5am. I’m dead tired but I can’t fall asleep and I am always restless and sometimes, emotional for no apparent reason.

– I drink socially but not much at all anymore because of my stomach.
– I don’t drink soda or coffee or eat anything sugary.
– Only eat dinner and that usually consists of something very simple and plain.
– I get simple exercise with walking.
– I have stress at my work but it apparently is not related (stomach never hurts at work and I’ve been stressed out at work long before I started losing sleep)

I have always had some kind of stomach issue but it has always been passed off (probably because I am younger) and I have always had some kind of sleeping problem (since I can remember). It’s only recently that they got more serious (although, I have taken medication for both in the past).

Come on doctors / students / smart people. I’d like a differential to "generic stomach problem and stress".
I have tried everything I thought was possible by myself at home. I don’t drink milk or coffee at all anymore and I hardly eat anything other than rice recently (part of my strict diet).

I have been to the doctor several times and they just give me a simple but uneffective treatment and diagnose me with some generic stomach problem. I’m a 21 year old male so I don’t get taken seriously with doctors usually.

That’s why I’ve taken initiative and tried everything I can at home but nothing seems to be working.

I think I can go back to the doctor with some new information though, thank you.

What can I do to sleep better?

I wake up several times a night and simply can’t get to sleep again. I’m healthy, have a happy family life and I have no major worries that keep me awake. Any suggestions what I could do to fall asleep faster after waking up?
I have a little son who wakes me up during the night, but i wake up anyway. I work out ~ 2 hours a day, and I am tired enough when I go to bed, I also have a more or less routine, I go to bed and get up the same time every day, because of my son.
sharky… don’t you think I try that remedy every night, lol…

I usually get about 4-6 hours of sleep a night, and I have to wake up at 4:45 every weekday. I am a high school student, and it is really hard to wake up in the morning. I use this alarm clock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93RvM7NnpJU
(you put the vibrator piece under your pillow,) yet I can still sleep through it sometimes. Even if it does wake me up, I am often in a semi-sleep state, and I turn the alarm off without realizing it, and I go back to sleep. My parents think I have much more trouble waking up than a normal teenager, even considering the circumstances, and they don’t like having to wake me up, usually several times each morning. In the afternoon, it is common for me to take naps accidentally, because I am so tired. I take 50 mg of Zoloft every night. Could my sleep problems be because of Zoloft?

Lunesta…?

My doctor diagnosed me with insomina on Friday and gave me a few samples of Lunesta (2 mg) to try. I’ve been taking a pill every night 20-30 minutes before bed time, but they don’t seem to work. I do not get sleepy at all, still lay there for an hour before falling asleep, wake up several times during the night, and get up before i’m supposed to, plus i’m still extremely groggy during the day.

i was just wondering if anyone else had tried Lunesta and had the same problems with it not seeming to work..if so, what step did you take next? did you try anohther sleeping medication? my doctor said i could go on a higher dosage, i was just surprised that 2 mg/night didn’t seem to have any effect whatsoever..

What induces the illusion of longer dreams?

I’ve heard anecdotes from people who have dreams that feel several times longer than the couple hours that you can actually spend dreaming each night – these range from days to weeks to years. Is there some cocktail of substances or certain conditions that will make dreams feel much longer than they really are?
I’m actually not trying to do this myself (though you have to admit, it would be fun). I’m just curious about what is causing these strangely long dreams, not really trying to replicate the experience. Thank you.

Assuming no instance of severe sleep apnea (they could awake several times if this were the case), can I assume that they will enter REM sleep about 90 minutes following the first signs of snoring?

How to deal with constant hives?

I’ve been dealing with non stop hives for about 7 months now and I’ve found no relief. I’ve been to my doctor several times and all he seems to want to do is try different antihistamines and none of them seem to work. I’ve typed up all of my symptoms such as excessive hair loss, intolerance to cold, insomnia, uncontrollable Weight gain, shortness of breath etc. but he won’t test for anything, he always sends me away with a prescription for allergy medicine. Should I try a different doctor? Does anyone know what this may be? What can I do to get relief? The hives that I get sometimes get bad enough that I can’t walk let alone work, and I am at risk of loosing my job because of it. Is there anything I can do for an alternative income if this does cost me my job? As you can see I have several questions and I would be very grateful if anyone could answer any of them at all. Thanks so much.
Christina
