I had a sleep study done and it was found that while I do not have sleep apnea, it does take me unusually long to enter REM sleep. It takes a normal person 1 hour to enter REM sleep, while it takes me 5 hours to enter REM sleep. This results in poor quality sleep, and me being exhausted the whole next day. On average, I sleep 12 hours a night, which I’m aware is not normal. I’d like to get this corrected as fast as possible. My primary care doctor referred me to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, who has now referred me to a Neurologist. I also may be seeing a Pulmonoligist. Is there anything these doctors can do? Any surguries or medications that I can take? I’d be willing to do anything. I’m sick of being exhausted all the time.

Is sleep with nightmares better than no sleep?

A friend of mine’s been having nightmares. Constant ones. Pretty horrific too. And night terrors on top of that. Wakes screaming a lot.

Sleep’s been difficult so she’s taken to not sleeping at all. Figures it won’t make much difference and it’ll be less nightmares.

Is a little poor-quality sleep better than just staying up?

Anyone in here take Melatonin for sleep problems?

The sleep I do get is of poor quality. Someone once suggested I take Melatonin at bedtime to improve the restfulness of my brain. Anyone heard of this or tried it?
