My dog is about 6 years old and has been sleeping with me since she was a puppy. I am getting ready to go to college and my parents are not able to sleep with her because they are allergic. She doesn’t sleep when I saty somehere else for the night. I need to get her out of the habit of sleeping with me. any suggestions?

I have an extremely bad period, and on one of my previous questions I was told that it’s ridiculous that my mom won’t take me to the doctor. It’s pissing me off because I’m concerned that it could be something serious — I simply want to check if it’s something serious or nothing to worry about, but she yells at me saying she doesn’t want to pay 60$ to be told that I should go on birth control. I mean, I don’t really want to go on it either because I don’t want it to screw with my hormones. But there’s got to be other things to help it, right? Every month I have to deal with: Being bent over and moaning with pain, throwing up the whole first day, being nauseous for the 2 days following, and I’m taking painkiller as often as I can for the whole 8-10 days (10 days once but haven’t had it for that long recently, so basically 8-9 days) of my period.
The past month, I’ve been less hungry. It’s not that I don’t mind making something to eat, no problem. I just don’t feel like eating anymore. Most of the time I’ll go a whole day without eating until dinner. It might be because I never see my parents anymore and then when I do, they ignore me.
I’ve been asking my mom to take me to the doctor constantly since last month — I was at my dad and stepmoms house in Arizona when I got my last period and she said "Maybe I should talk to a doctor". Well… that never happened. Now she keeps talking about homeopathic bullcrap. The only thing she got me were some pharmacy vitamins that are basically like giant Smarties. I stopped taking those last week because I now have a really bad cankor sore. Tonight I got mad at her for ignoring me and she told me to take some stupid homeopathic stress relief pills. But now I’m dizzy as eff, and that’s probably not good. I don’t know if this helps, but I also have some homeopathic sleeping pills because I have insomnia. They don’t work so I just deal with it.
Basically my mom is pissing me off because: She’s putting me on homeopathic bullcrap that DOESN’T work and won’t take me to the doctor because of my horrifyingly bad period because she doesn’t want to be told about birth control, when there could actually be something very wrong with me. Advice please???

Also, the glands in my jaw/neck area hurt a bit. Something to ignore?

Mom won't take me to doctor… girls only…?

How do I fall asleep easier?

I’ve been having a tough time getting to sleep. My parents won’t let me buy pills, and I’ve tried counting sheep. :) Is there some way that i can fall asleep easier? Thanks!

I seem to get very poor sleep on a regular basis, and always have trouble waking up for school. I’ve got my phone set with an alarm right next to me in bed, and I have another alarm placed across the room which goes off five minutes later than my phone. Despite this, I consistently wake up ten minutes after my ride has already called me. My friends tell me that I talk during my sleep, and that I constantly toss and turn. I’ve also been known to, when woken up, have a conversation with somebody with little enough consciousness that I have no recollection of it whatsoever. These problems have been quite consistent, and when my parents were in charge of getting me up, it got to the point where they’d have to splash a cup of water in my face.
Something odd that I’ve noticed is that if I go to sleep at midnight and wake up at 6am (My normal time), I’ll be VERY tired, yet when I go to sleep at 3am and wake up at 6am I’m typically quite energized. This leads me to believe that whatever the problem may be has at least something to do with REM cycles.
I know what it’s like to wake up refreshed and energized like sleep is supposed to make me feel, it happens every once in a blue moon. I really wish that I could somehow make it happen on a day-to-day basis, because it’s always really nice. Anyway, that’s what I’m getting at here. I want to try to find out why it is I get such poor sleep, and what can be done about it. If I could just become more naturally energized every day, it would make a HUGE difference in my overall lifestyle. If anybody has any info regarding what my sleeping issues may be, as well as any tips or the like, it would be much appreciated.

Sleep problems when going to school how to fix?

Now it’s vacaction and i just go to bed at 24:00 or 02:00 in the morning and wake up at 11:00 or around 12:00 (When i’m bringing the paper around i wake up at 9:30) so now i dont have any problems but in 2 weeks i have to go back to school. Last school year i had some sleeping problems and i had some bad marks because of that because i can’t remember anything of the first lesson that i’ve got. (Also i can’t really keep with the other lessons because sometimes i’m to tired)

I’m 15 years old and i wake up at 7:00, sometimes at 7:45 and i have to leave at 8:00 so i get my cloths on fast and get some bread quickly and sometimes even eat it while i’m going to school on my bike. I go to bed at 22:00 (Sometimes earlyer somtimes later) but it always takes a while before i can sleep most of the times it’s 01:00 and i still don’t sleep. (A few times a month its even 05:00) I don’t get bulled or something and i’ve got a lot of friends.(I don’t have a girl friend if that changes anything) Also i’m a nice person and every one things i’m nice, and i can do things and talk with every one also no one hates me. I don’t do alot and i don’t sport. (I do bring the paper around and i consider that as a sport just like making my movies but i don’t make movies all the time) My parents are also okay, they are nice give me the stuff that i need and i can talk with them. (They also know that i sleep bad)

I eat enough i eat breakfast (not much because i’m not a morning person) mostly at school for lunch i eat 2 big peaces of break or a whole baguette. (If i eat it fast enough)

Also sometimes i wake up during the night all the time i just sleep for 30 minutes and than i’m away again for 1 hour and i sleep again etc. etc.

So maybe someone got a solution for me? I think sleep pills isn’t a option because when i sleep i can hardly wake up from my clock (It’s a cell phone it also vibrates and it ones fell on my head because it went off for such a long time)

Thank you: Sylerr (Christiaan)
If i go to bed at 20:00 i still can’t sleep until 01:00 or something or i keep waking up.
It’s not because of my biological clock when school starts after 4 months i still have the same problem.

This is my last year in middle school and because of my sleep problem i’m ruining my grades. And i want to make my parents proud because they but all the hard word in me.

What are some tips to fall asleep easy?

Each time I go to bed, it takes 45 minutes – 2 hours to fall asleep. I am the only one in my family that can not sleep right away. It only takes my parents and my brothers about 5 minutes to fall asleep.

BiPolar Disorder?

I’m a 12 year old girl. I think I have BiPolar Disorder.
Ever since i can remember i have had anger issues, occasionally ( like every 6 months) i get very frustrated, angry, or outraged and afterwards i have a complete melt down… Then after about and hour and thirty minutes I’m ok again! (Weird huh?) Well this week it has happened twice! And right now im on top of the world… Bipolar disorder seems to be the only answer…
Example:
Earlier today I was having tons of troubl with my algebra homework. I was cursing, out loud, tearing and stabbinng at my book, pulling my hair out, and plain just beating things ( even my own hand with a pencil…
So my sister offers me help soo i except it because i was SSOO confused. Well she helped but my behaviorgot even worse. So i get introuble with my dad.
Then of course had a melt down… then got better

How can i tell my parents i think i am bipolar and them take me to a doctor?

Do you think im bipolar?

What are the symptoms?

CPAP Machine?

I’ve got sleep apnea, which means I stop breathing several times each night and wake up gasping for air. I’m used to it. But the problem is that I am not sleeping well because it is getting interrupted so much. My dad has had a CPAP for 5 years and both of his parents have one. I will probably end up getting one as well. I plan to have a sleep study done over the summer, at which time they will analyze my body throughout the night while I am asleep. I know that if I have one I will be using it the rest of my life. My main question is how often would I have to change the tubing and the facemask? Would I have to change them at all?
This is the type of mask my dad and his parents use: http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fei%3DUTF-8%26p%3DCpap%2520machines%26fr2%3Dtab-web%26fr%3Dybr_sbc&w=500&h=333&imgurl=static.flickr.com%2F70%2F154016843_14d712a212_m.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Ftattootom%2F154016843%2F&size=83.2kB&name=154016843_14d712a212.jpg&p=Cpap+machines&type=jpeg&no=4&tt=1,943&oid=d34cdd81836d5d3e&fusr=Tattoo+Tom&tit=The+Ever+Faithful+REMstar+CPAP&hurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Ftattootom%2F&ei=UTF-8&src=p

We’ve been treating my son for ADHD for several years and have had problems with the side effects of meds. He’s now on Strattera but it didn’t seem to be helping this school year. So we’ve increased the dose twice (he did have a growing spurt last summer – he’s 14). This still isn’t helping. Well, in going over my symptoms related to possible sleep apnea with the doctor, I had an "ah-ha" moment that my son has the same symptoms. Low and behold he does have a disorder. However it hasn’t yet been diagnosed with a sleep study (coming up next week).

So I just want to put a bug in parents’ ears that if your child is being treated for ADHD and the meds are not working, perhaps you want to speak to your doctor about the possibility of a sleeping disorder.

But for my question…. Has anybody else experienced a child at school who absolutely will not do his work and found out a sleeping disorder was the cause? Please tell me about your story and if treating the disorder helped your child do better in school.
Yes, seeing an ENT and removal of tonsils and/or adenoids is the expected treatment. Thanks for responses!
I’m agreeing that sleeping disorders should be looked into before giving drugs for ADHD. I wish someone would have asked if my son snored years ago!
Thanks for all responses…hard to choose!

How to cure insomnia (or help it)?

So I was pretty much born with insomnia, if that’s possible. The only time I cried when I was a baby was when my mother tried to put me to bed. Even when I was in early elementary school I would be up until 2 a.m. before sleeping, and then have to wake up and go to school exhausted, and then at the end of the school day, I would be completely energized, and I would stay that way until I fell asleep and woke up again. I stay up for like two or three days at a time if I don’t seriously make myself go to sleep. Then I crash and sleep for like 24 hours. I have tried everything I can think of.
Not doing anything 2 hours before bed except reading or relaxing.
Drinking warm milk.
Taking a hot shower.
Exercising during the day
Progressive muscle relaxation
"Counting sheep"
Deep breathing
Visual imagery
Taking Melatonin (I think thats what its called)
and a bunch of other stuff, but I still can’t seem to make myself go to sleep every night, or I just lie down and close my eyes for like 2 hours and nothing happens.

I have a summer college course, and its begins at 9:20 each morning and with my sleeping habits, it’s very hard for me to work with this schedule.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can sleep at night!?

***NOTE**** I have been to a doctor, and they just want to prescribe me sleeping pills which a) my parents don’t approve of and b) my medical insurance doesn’t cover because I’m only 17.

Does it sound like I have a sleep disorder?

I have had trouble falling asleep for as long I can remember. I am 14 by the way. I try to get to sleep at about 9:30 P.M. but can’t fall asleep until about 2:30 A.M. almost every night. And when I do fall asleep, I fall into a real deep sleep and wake up at about noon. I am always tired throughout the day. And I can’t seem to fall asleep before 2:30 no matter have much sleep I got the previous night.

When I was younger I had a bad problem with bed wetting and it still occasionally happens. I also slept walk. I remember camping with my neighbor and had to sleep in their parents tent. The next day she told me that I had almost beat her up in my sleep. I haven’t slept walked in about 2 years now though.

And sometimes I get real bad cramps in my legs. Like my muscles are rolling. I am also told that I am a kicker.

My mom thinks that I might have enuresis but she is not a doctor and has not talked to my doctor about it. Right now I am taking melatonin and it is helping some. Before I started taking it, I wouldn’t dream, or so it seams. Now I am getting very vivid dreams.

Whenever I am wakened before I feel like I’ve gotten enough sleep, it is like an actual physical pain to get up because I am in such a deep sleep.

Sorry for going on for so long. I was just wondering if it sounds like I have a sleep disorder, and if so, which one?
I’m going to talk to my doctor next month and see what she says but I just want to know some of the possibilities. Thank you! = )
My dad said that he has similar problems but not so severe now. So it might be genetic but he never got it checked out, Oh and 2:30 is on a good night. Most of the time it’s around 3:00 – 3:30 A.M. I am homeschooled so I don’t have to worry about that in my schedule but I do want to be on a good schedule with the people around me.
No I’m not afraid of wetting. It rarely happens anymore.

Does this sound like a sleep disorder?

Does this sound like a sleep disorder?
I set 4 alarm clocks every morning, around 5-15 minutes apart, and scatter them all over my room. I put some in drawers to wake me up. Still, I sometimes have absolutely no memory of having turned them off.

Sometimes I don’t sleep enough but I do often get 7-9 hours of sleep. I am 17-years-old so I don’t always get the recommended amount but I do often. I’m still always extremely tired. I fall asleep often, but not always, after school and my mother always yells at me for it. I sleep for around 3 hours at the absolute most, usually it’s only around an hour though. I do feel a little better afterward. Even if I don’t, I’m able to focus better at night. I almost always show up 10-20 minutes late for the first class of the morning. Sometimes, after setting and turning off all those clocks, my mother will knock on my door and ask me if I’m up. I’ll tell her that I am and that I’m getting ready and tell her to go away. This upsets my mother because it is, of course, rude, but I honestly have absolutely no memory of saying these things. Sometimes I talk to both my parents before I’m even awake.

Right before I fall asleep and sometimes during the middle of the night or in the morning when I’m half awake, I hallucinate. I’ve never had a visual hallucination, they’re always auditory. The other morning, I heard my dad talking in front of my door. My father comes to visit sometimes but he was 5 hours away at the time and there’s no way he was home. I heard a man the other night right before I fell asleep, I don’t even remember what he said but nobody was home. I’ve had this since I was younger though. One time, I was in the car and I fell asleep pretty quickly. I was around 10. I had the most vivid and terrifying nightmare and I woke up to a gunshot. The gunshot wasn’t a part of the dream, I heard it out loud. I looked out the window and we were still in the same area, I’d only been asleep for like 5 minutes.

I have no problem spending an extended amount of time on a math problem or any schoolwork. My brain just doesn’t allow me to. I used to be much more focused and I could spend hours doing math. Now, my brain will get all foggy and the page will go out of focus (not in the Schizophrenic way but in the tired way) and I won’t be able to think. I have constant headaches. I can’t listen to people because I’m constantly zoning out. It’s a big problem at school but it’s also affecting my social life, sometimes I’m incredibly interested in hearing what one of my peers has to say but I simply can’t focus enough to listen to what they’re talking about.
