How many OTC sleeping pills does it take to kill a 150 pound person? I’m not thinking about suicide, I just want to know
I want to know about long term effects besides dependency. I want a serious answer, not the ones so many people like to give to make you feel incredibly dumb.
My problem is, I have trouble sleeping so I take sleeping pills on a very regular basis, OTC ones not prescription. And my tolerance to them is so high, I have to take between 8-12 of them. I want to know if there are any serious long term side effect, for example kidney failure, heart problems, and so on. I would ask a doctor but I’m a sever hypochondriac, and I hate going to doctors.
Or is it an incredibly bad idea? I just mean occasional usage of OTC, non-habit forming sleeping pills.
If they were prone to hypoglycemic episodes during the night, would that be a definite no to sleeping pills?
for the past 6 months i have been taking one pill (otc) every night to sleep, will i lose my memory?
I want to know if its ok for me to drink my sleeping pills after i drank a beer. The sleeping pills are normal OTC sleep aid and i drank the beer about 6 hours ago. It was only one. Should i drink the sleep aid?
I have a very hard time falling asleep at night and once I do fall asleep, I am up about 15-20 minutes later. My doc suggested Lunesta, but the Medical Card does not cover that. I’ve even tried OTC sleep aids and they don’t work either….HELP!!!!! I need SLEEP something bad. All opinions appreciated…..and thank you
I’m not sure if I have insomnia, but I have trouble going to sleep although I am usually tired enough to fall asleep, I can’t seem to stay asleep or get enough sleep. I know half of the problem is, I don’t have enough time, between school and work and other priorities. But when I do get sleep, I have to take a sleeping aid, or else I will not sleep.
I’ve head this problem since 2004,but there doesn’t seem to be anything I can do. And I don’t want to take anything prescribed, I’m already taking pills OTC. HELP. Anyone found relief some other way?
Whether this is all in my head or not, I have to take sleeping pills to sleep. They are generic OTC pills, usually the simply sleep stuff made my tylenol or something along those lines. I usually take between 1-2 pills, 25-50 mg of dyphenhydramine at a time, which is the recommended dosage. I have tried to not take them but I can’t sleep, and I’m sure it’s a mind thing now as well as the fact they actually work. But really, how bad would it be if took them everyday? Would it hurt my liver (or kidneys, I can’t remember which one is for meds) any more than birth control or any other meds that we take an a daily or near daily basis?
I’ve tried natural supplements like SleepMD, but they don’t seem to work. Other OTC and prescription sleeping pills seem to make me depressed and anxious. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Last year I went on my very first flight, an international one at that. I learned that I can NOT fall asleep on a plane for more than 5 minutes or so. I am about to take the same trip to Sweden from the US again this summer and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks or know of any good OTC meds that might help with sleeping but won’t make me drowsy when I wake up?
I have severe insomnia and OTC sleeping pills are not working for me. I heard that prescription sleeping pills work better, but are hard to attain these days. My family doctor is not willing to write a prescription pill and told me to find other ways to help me fall asleep. And I have tired EVERYTHING…OTC pills, exercising, reading, etc. Can someone tell me how i can get barbiturate pills, so i can fall asleep quickly rather than laying in bed for hours.
I’m doing a research paper on suicide for one of my classes at Kent State, and I was wondering a few things:
1) What exactly happens to the body when someone overdoses on sleeping pills? Convulsions? Coma? Both? Both leading to death? Heart attack?
2) Do people tend to use OTC sleeping pills more than prescription sleeping pills to kill themselves? Or do they tend to not use sleeping pills at all?
Any information on these two questions, along with sources, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Lately I have had trouble staying asleep at night but no problem falling asleep. I already exercise daily and have tried everything from changing my diet(removing all caffeine and eating healthier) to eliminating all my stress. I don’t want to start taking those otc sleeping aides with all that crap in it that can develop dependability. Melatonin has been working great at giving me a full nights sleep and have seen no signs of dependability after i stopped using for a couple days. Is it safe to continue to use this?
Anyone know of a good sleep aid either otc or alternative that will help one go to sleep without feeling drugged? Something that actually works?
I take 1/4 of a 0.5mg klonopin tablet at bed time. It works fair at higher doses but the side effects are undesirable.
Ever since I hit my teens, I haven’t been able to sleep all through the night. I’ve taken OTC sleeping pills, sometimes they work, other times they don’t. It’s as if my brain just will not go into "sleep mode" and just keeps racing through things.
I’ve had symptoms of depression for just about as long, and I went to see my doctor recently as these symptoms have worsened over the last 6 months.
I wrote him a list of symptoms, which included insomnia as one of the big ones, and he just seemed to shrug it off and perscribed Welbutrin XL for me.
Could me not sleeping well at night affect my overall well-being, even emotionally? Can someone offer some help or send me some information on this subject if the two tie together, please?
