‘ve had chronic insomnia since I was a baby. It went unnoticed until I was in jr. high and began taking a cold capsule at bedtime when I could not sleep and that helped back then. I was taken to many doctors as I grew up but they always told my mother there was nothing wrong with me and sent me home being scolding for faking illness. I wasn’t faking. I was a very sickly child, chronically fatigue, with little interest in the world and people around me. When I am able to sleep well for at least 8 hours I feel almost normal. But without medication, my brain does not shut down enough to sleep. I quickly develope a tolerance to medications, then the doses are increased which increases the severity or their side effects. I was born a type A Personality and it kills me to sit home when I want to be working. But without a long term relief from my insomnia I cannot work . I need to find a new sleep aid that doesn’t cause me to sleep walk. I’ve already tried all the natural remedies

I have tried Lunesta with no luck AT all and Ambien helped some what for about a month. Now I am back to not sleeping. I know they all effect people different but I am hoping to find something that doesn’t make me groggy the next day but knocks me out at night! I have tried natural remedies, avoiding caffeine, getting exercise. Nothing helps! I am tired when I go to bed but I just lay there and when I do fall asleep it isn’t continuous.

I have had insomnia on and off since I was a baby, usually 2-3 months of sleeping regularly, and 1-2 months of not sleeping. A littler personal info may help you to, for lack of better words, diagnose me. I lead a very stressful life as an audio engineer, where my job consists of working with bigtime artists, at all hours and especially weekends. This doesnt seem to bother my girlfriend, she says she understands, and I do believe that she does, but I can’t help but to feel that I have no life on account of being called in at odd hours, and bad times. I do not have a drug problem or any thing like that, I’m just looking for some natural remedies to set my sleeping habits straight. I usually do not sleep more than 3 to 4 hrs and thats around 7am when I fall asleep. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I was just curious if it’s alright to take Melatonin for my insomnia (I have to wake up at 6am for work and I can’t sleep at all!)
If I cannot take it, does anyone know of any natural remedies that I can try to get to sleep?

Tried Ambien, felt like I took some sort of acid or something.
Tried benadryl, works but leaves me sleepy, dragging and hungover all the next day
Tried melatonin, same affect as benadryl
I want to try a few natural remedies.
I’ve heard rescue remedy works well, also kava kava in the powder root- mix- and drink form
What is your very best natural sleep aid of all time? Please advise
