I am keen to hear about anyone’s experience at this Brisbane sleep clinic. My ten month old still does not sleep through the night. He also has a lot of trouble getting to sleep for his naps (even though he is exhausted). This has not just developed. He has never slept longer than 6 hours and 30 mins. I will be returning to work soon and now face the fact that I might have to employ "control crying". For both him and I. I am worried though. My Doctor would like me to try the Ellen Baron Centre. What do you think?

My baby is 9months old and sometimes he takes 1 nap and then other days he will take 2. It always depends on what time he wakes in the morning. How many naps does your baby take during the day?

I have been reading a book that says a child at this age should have 3 naps. 1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and one in the evening. When i don’t give my child the morning nap she seems to sleep longer during her afternoon nap, like a good 2 hours. Other wise she sleeps only 45 min when i give her the morning nap. Any thoughts on this. The book i have have been reading is healthy sleep habits happy baby. Her cousing who is the same age as her sleeps 4 times a day and stays asleep for at least 2.5 hours for each nap! My goal is to eventually get my child to sleep thru the night only waking up once. Right now she wakes up 2 times.

My son is almost 9 months old and fights like hell during nap time. It just started two days ago. He has been sleeping better at night for about a week now. Now that he’s sleeping more at night, he doesn’t want to nap. Without his naps though he is VERY crabby. Should I keep making him lay in his bed until he takes his nap?

There are some days when its really easy make my 4 week old fall asleep, some other days he stays awake for like 7hrs, taking only 2 20 mins naps. Any advice?

I am worried he is going to start trying to refuse naps. What can I do to prevent this?

He must nap, and the crib is not a problem at all right now, except he is getting big enough to climb out of it, so he needs a bed.

I want to make sure it is a smooth and easy transition, and I want him to know the toddler bed does not mean naps are now optional in any way.

My son is 5 months old, and I think maybe he is over tired when he takes a nap (because he screams and cries for about 30 minutes before he will go to sleep). I think I am waiting too long between naps. How old is your baby, and how long do you keep them awake between naps? Thanks!

My little guy is nearly 4 months old and is already fighting sleep. He will very rarely sleep longer than 15 minutes or so at a time. Just wondering when the first morning nap begins to happen. I am reluctant to let him cry it out as he’s still so young but I know I need to be getting him into a regular sleeping pattern at some point. Where are you at with your baby’s naps?

Ive always heard that it takes 90 minutes to reach REM sleep, and that dreaming is associated with REM sleep. If this is the case, then why do I have dreams (some of which are real vivid at times) from half hour naps? I’ll only be asleep for about half an hour or 45 min and during that time I will have a dream. Does this mean i reach REM sleep faster than some people?

I am having an increasingly hard time getting my 2 1/2 year old son to nap in the afternoon. He used to be a great napper, but nowadays it takes him forever to fall asleep. I have a five month old that wakes up every two hours in the night. He is not hungry, he just wakes up. I give him 3 naps a day, they are usually only 30 min. My doctor just told me to try to give him only two naps and his night might improve. Do you think this is true? How many naps does your baby take (please indicate the age as well)

My almost 6 month old daughter can only be awake for 2 hours at a time before needing a nap again. This means up to 4 naps a day. She is a great sleeper and when I see that she’s tired I put her in her crib and she will fall asleep on her own… But not if she’s overtired. That’s why I don’t think I can get her to stretch out her naps.
Any advice or comments?

When did your baby go from taking 2 naps a day to only 1?? And was it a morning nap or afternoon nap that you kept? I just can’t see how they can stay up from like 7am till 2pm or from after a morning nap until bedtime.
