I’m a 16 year old girl, so not a lot of people take me seriously when I say that I have sleep problems, but I really do. This has been going on literally for my entire life, and I dont think there’s anything more I can do about it.
My body never seems to know when I want to fall asleep. It can take me up to an hour to fall asleep every night, and when it’s really bad, it takes me over two hours to get to sleep. Also, I wake up in the middle of the night for no reason every single night, usually around 2 or 3 in the morning. Sometimes I wake up more than once in one night. And even then, it can take me up to an additional hour to fall back asleep.
By nature I’m a very open, optimistic, worry-free person, so i ruled out anxiety/stress a long time ago. In fact, I remember once when I was four or five when I woke up and realized, with a very pleased feeling, that I had slept through the entire night, and I was thrilled with myself because of how rarely that happened. I thought this was all totally normal while I was growing up, but when my Mum told me it took her 20 minutes to fall asleep, it blew my mind.
I’ve told my doctor, and none of the things she suggested worked, like going to bed early, playing music, keeping the light and sounds low, etc. She said I may just have to live with it. Is this true? Is this just the sleep schedual i was born with and will have to live with?
Thank you for all of your help!

Ok, I could probably stay up all night if I felt like it without much of a problem. I usually can’t get tired until 3:00am, and when I go to bed it usually takes me a long time to doze off. It seems like my mind wanders about anything and everything.
As of right now, I’m not very active. School is on break, and I’m looking for a new job, but even with all that going on, I still usually have the same problem and don’t get very tired at night
Anything I could do to help me get a normal sleep pattern and how to just relax and doze off sooner??
Any help would be great, thank!!
PS: I don’t drink, so don’t give the beer answer lol.

I have had a "sleeping disorder" for a long time now. First of all, I am only 22. I cannot make it through an entire movie at home without falling asleep. I am usually dog tired around 9 p.m. I sleep every chance I get. I can literally fall asleep before my head hits the pillow and this is not a joke. I can sleep for 2 hours on the couch with my b/friend beside me screaming about his favorite team losing the game and not even be awakened. I am too tired to even think about sex at night with my boyfriend of 6 years, plus like I said, I’m asleep as soon as it lay down. The only change in my life is a second part time job so I work 7 days at week, Mon-Fri 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sat and Sun 5 a.m. to 1 p.m., as well as Wed. 6-10 p.m. Could this second job be contributing to this or not? I actually do get a lot of sleep because I sleep on the couch at least 2 hours before going to bed at night where I get at least 5 more hours of sleep. Should I seek help for this or what should I do? HELP

I have been having anxiety attacks now for a long time, i usually get one a day. My doctor wants to put me on Benzodiazepines but im afraid its going to make me feel high or really weird. I hate the feeling of being high from Marijuana because of my anxiety. What do you feel when you take it? Is it relaxing feeling like marijuana?

Some people thing that having frequent meals impede the repairing process of the body. Others feel that large meals take long time to digest causing bloatedness and drowsiness.

A long time ago I started to have reoccurring dreams that I was in a 100 foot deep swimming pool and just clinging to the edge. Then sometimes I would dream I was swimming but the size and deepness of the pool was kind of freaky. I still keep having dreams about swimming pools, usually they are huge. Since I tried scuba diving in real life, although I didn’t like it, I feel more comfortable swimming in the deep water but it’s still a bit freaky. I have no fear of normal sized swimming pools in real life! What do you think these dreams mean?

I’ve had trouble sleeping for a long time and I normally take Vanes in the morning around 6am for ADHD. At night I typically take .15mg of clonidine for help sleeping and if it doesn’t help then I take 10mg of zolpidem but I always wake up 5 hours later. Is this normal?
I also wake up with a headache and feeling a little sick after those 5 hours.

And it’s not sexual in any way (for a change). But what does it mean. Funny thing is I haven’t had any dreams in a very long time, and for the past month I have been dreaming non stop, and a few of these dreams are about the same contact. Thoughts please. Thanks

I have dreams every night. And their extremelyyyy loongg. This has been going on for maybe 4 years (not too sure). Even wen i take a 30 minute nap or maybe like 45 minute naps i have dreams that for a long time (probably around the same length as my night dreams). I’ve given up on writing them in full detail -_-… I use words like "chip" or summarize them in phrases. sumthing to do with REM cycle? idk..

He’s at home since he broke his leg (his doctor recommended). And he has been having sleep problems, he has a long leg cast, he has to be with it for the next week or maybe 2. We were giving him pain meds at night but doctor told us to stop giving these because he can’t be taking pills for a long time but now he can’t sleep well.
And another question, the doctor said that my son has to relearn to walk again when the cast is off, he won’t walk for a month. I think is better to exercise the leg to regain muscle strength. What do you think? Please answer which question do you know, I will be very grateful with your answers.

I recently concluded that i get very upset (stress, sometimes even some sort of a panic attack) when i drank some coffee (only 1 cup really). It would be logical to assume it is because of the Caffeine. However, because i can drink a few glasses of coke without a problem, i find it kind of strange…
Also, is there a way to drink something to counter (neutralize) caffeine? Sometimes the panic attack takes and heartbeats take a long time. Thank you.
