My Dr.has just put me on Zyprexa in conjuction with Lithium. The Zyprexa info sheet says this med is an thienobenzodiazepine. I am afraid to take it because of a past addiction with benzodiazepines. Are these meds the same?

I have tried so many drugs in a bid to control my Bipolar Disorder but nothing seems to help or has hellish side effects. I would like to give Lithium a go but my psychaitrist is reluctant. I am predominately affected by depression but also rapid cycle. Does anyone have any experience of Lithium, good or bad?

I take currently wellbutrin and trazodone, and I want to start taking lithium too. Is it bad to take all 3 at the same time? I have a really good response to anti-depressants, and they make me ALOT happier, and I think lithium could really top me off. So just curious.

I take 600mg of Seroquel and 1500mg of lithium each day for Bipolar Disorder. I’m tired of feeling like a zombie and my memory is shot. I just don’t like the way I feel anymore. My doctor says that this is the best drug combination for me. Any ideas anyone?

I’m bipolar type one and over the past week and a half or so I’ve been starting to wake up naturally after only 1 or 2 rem cycles (4 or 8 hours) when normally I can get 12 hours. The thing is, I was taking large doses of melatonin and gravol up until a week and a half ago so I dunno.. And I was also smoking weed everyday (probably not a good idea looking back) My concentration is still pretty decent as well as my cognitive abilites (able to focus and what not) and I’ve actually been worse off mood wise the past couple of weeks.. I’ve kind of lost motivation and go through mild mood swings. I’m starting to take lithium now, I took one every night for three nights and tonight I took 2 (600 mg). Will the lithium ward it off? I want to take a drug that won’t do any permanent damaging to my brain but will also work quickly if that’s possible.. I dunno.. Please help

I received some really startling and upsetting news today. I asked a psychiatrist for a consult and his opinion is that i have bipolar disorder. I have a lot of racing thoughts that Im finding harder to control, and apparently thats a major symptom. Will this disorder get worse with age? Will I pass this on to children? After reading medical journals and the other comments on this board about lithium, Im not sure if I want to take it. Are there any other treatment options out there?

What does lithium do to your body? And what other mental illness can also be confused with bipolar disorder?

If I fed a spoonful of lithium grease to a person with bipolar disorder, would it have the same affect as a low dose of lithium?
This is an entirely theoretical question, I am just curious. Please don’t tell me not to do this, because I never would anyway.

Is it adverse for someone without the disorder? I wonder if success with lithium could serve as a sort of litmus paper for determining if someone is actually bipolar or not.

I’ve been taking 450mg lithium for two weeks now, and I notice my biological clock is all wonky. I can’t get to sleep without sleeping pills (50mg Trazodone)…I lay there and toss and turn while thoughts race through my head. Can this be avoided?

I have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder on two occasions and I am not sure how to take it.
I have racing thoughts, mood swings, general anxiety, social anxiety,….
I am afraid to get close to people because I am concerned they will not approve of me when my disorder "kicks in".
What to do? What do you do?
Oh, and my doctor gave me Lithium (haven’t started yet). Is anyone taking this? Does it work? What works for you? Are you embarrassed to have Bipolar Disorder?

I have had bipolar disorder since my late teens. I have been on lithium for a year and a half now. Tried a host of other drugs before that to no avail. But now I am stable and functioning well. Do you think it could come back if I stick with treatment?

I have tried EVERY sleeping pill. (literally)
I am now on the maximum dose of Lunesta.
It no longer works and it’s only been a week.
when I take it I’m not even tired or able to sleep.
What should I do and how can I get some sleep?!
I have tried all the benzodiazepines.
Does lithium put you to sleep? are there any Other Types of meds that might work?
