I’ve had arthiritis in most joints since I was 10, I’m now 30. I’ve been suffering with other symtoms lately, including severe tiredness, muscle pain, insomnia and very severe bruising, pain and swelling on my knees, wrists, elbows and ankles. I’ve had tests with my Reumatology consultant and he said I also have Fibromyalgia. I don’t know a great deal about this, does anyone else have this; I’d love a bit of advice on how to find relief. I’m not sure if I have insomnia, but I have trouble going to sleep although I am usually tired enough to fall asleep, I can’t seem to stay asleep or get enough sleep. I know half of the problem is, I don’t have enough time, between school and work and other priorities. But when I do get sleep, I have to take a sleeping aid, or else I will not sleep.

I’ve head this problem since 2004,but there doesn’t seem to be anything I can do. And I don’t want to take anything prescribed, I’m already taking pills OTC. HELP. Anyone found relief some other way?

Is it safe to take Buspar and melatonin?




I have no idea how Buspar reacts with other medications/supplements. I have a lot of trouble sleeping (I’ve struggled with insomnia for a while) and I was just wondering if it was OK to take the two together.

Crazy insomnia problem.?




This is a very weird and bad case of insomnia. My problem isn’t getting to sleep, and it never has been. But for some reason, I’m only sleeping 4 hours now.. its been happening for over two weeks. No matter what home remedy I try, after EXACTLY four hours (It’s very spooky how exact this is, folks…) I will wake up, feeling wide awake and physically impossible to fall back asleep.

What is going on in that brain of mine? Am I skipping out on one of sleep’s stages, or are all my stages of sleep being condensed itno a "micro session", I do crash hard so I know the 4 hours a night is not enough, but what the hell is wrong with me?

When I wake up, my mouth is completly dry and I have a very strong need to urinate. Even though I don’t drink anything before bed. I’ve been thinking.. possibly diabetes, I hope not, but at this point, just figuring out the cause of this would be a relief anyway. BTW, I have seen a doctor for this, and got Lunesta, and it didn’t work

I am currenlty taking 50mg of Zoloft per day which is great for my anxiety and depression, but causes insomnia.
I had heard that Effexor can help relief the same symptoms, but will not cause insomnia… has anyone experienced it first hand?

Would it be considered insomnia, if you stayed awake until about 4 or 5 am every morning, but you slept in until 11am?

I usually only do this if I’m really tired and have a really bad head ache… I’m not addicted but I only take both pain relief medicines together when I can’t go to sleep because I either have plans to go out or sometimes when I’m having a spell of insomnia!

I’ve been on drugs for depression/anxiety/OCD/insomnia for 12 years, and I found almost no relief. Ambien works for insomnia, but I am addicted to it…psychologically at best. I have thought about giving away or selling all of my possessions (they are ~80% gone already - given to friends) and drifting in a hope to "find myself."

Sleep disorder?




I can’t sleep normally for whatever reason.

I start trying to sleep around 2am, and usually only conk off around 6-7 am.

It’s been like this for over a year now.

Sleeping pills helped initially, but they stopped helping a few months ago.

What are the physiological causes for insomnia?
