What are some excellent relaxation techniques so you fall asleep?

Not medicine(running out of those).

Any other techniques that make you tired before bed other than take a hot bath and read a book?

sleeping..?




i just had major back surgrey and was on alot of medicane. I’ve been off for about 2 weeks and cannot sleep at all! I went to the doctors last monday and they gave me a sleeping pill [being only 16 im sure it wasn't that strong]–but needless to say it still doesn’t work! i’ve tried everything-exersize before bed, warm milk, hot bath, no naps. EVZERYTHING.. any ideas? i’m so warn out and lost.

Sleep problems?




Ok, I have had sleeping problems since birth. Ive had insomnia since I was a child, always had to take sleeping pills. So I have been taking the sleeping pill Clonidine for about 5 years, now and every so often I have to up the mg. So now I have to take 2 and along with that Advil PM. Ive expressed my concerns with my doctor and they don’t help, they just give me other sleeping pills to try, all of which don’t work. I’m getting fed up, I mean ive even tried the warm milk, yoga, reading a book, hot bath thing. You name it, I’ve tried it.

What should I do? lol sorry….
Ive tried the Melatonin, and the tea. It didn’t help.

Insomnia advise please?




I’m a chronic insomniac and have been working with my DR. on the problem for the past 8 years. Any ideas on what can help. Here’s what hasn’t. Gave up caffine, bedroom used for sleeping only (no tv), regular exercise, routine bedtime rituals, not eating after a certain hour, hot bath 90 min before bed time. Making my bed the most comfortable place I know. Hypnosis (cured my smoking habit so I thought I’d try). Fan on in bedroom to drown out noises that could wake me up when I do fall asleep, aroma therapy, calming music, and reading books. OTC’s like including tylonol pm, and Nyquil. (works for a coupled days then doesn’t) RX such as Lunesta, Ambien and Rozerem (to mention a few) all with no results. The only thing that gives relief at all is Xanex, but it’s controlled and after 5 years on it, my tolerance is very high and it’s not working well anymore. Any suggestions? I need to get some sleep! **oh, and I forgot to mention all the herbal products I tried. Please help.
I asked the dr about a sleep study, but she says it’s not sleep apnea, so it wouldn’t help. I asked for other benzos and she says I’ll have the same tolerance. I’m on both an antidepressant and an antihistamine, neither of which helped. Some great answers though. As for the pot, if it could be prescribed I absolutely would try, but at this time, it’d cost me my career. We have manditory testing at my job. Oh yeah, I’ve done the graveyard shift too. Same issue only worse. I know it seems I have an answer for almost anything, but keep trying please. 8 years is far too many and I’m fed up. Thanks so much!!

I have not had a single night of good sleep since I got back here in the Philippines. At first I thought it was still the time difference from the UK. Then two weeks go by and I’m convinced it’s something else.
I don’t feel like taking any medication but everything else I try does not have any effect.
I’ve tried the following…
1. Something hot to drink
2. Something cold to drink
3. Having a snack before going to bed.
4. Smoking four consecutive cigarettes (that is with only one match stick)
5. Talking a stroll before going to bed (usually around the hotel).
6. Reading
7. Turning the airconditioning up
8. Turning the airconditioning off
9. A hot bath before going to bed
10. Watching Al Pacino’s "Scarface" untill my eyelids get heavy
11. Sleeping on the couch
12. Three shots of Jose Cuervo before going to bed
13. Counting dogs jumping over a fence (sheeps to me seems kinda gay)
14. Talking about BS with the hotel bartender and concierge hoping I get sleepy afterwards.
None of these work for me.

Any suggestions, people?

Please help me… I’m like the living dead right now.
Sorry Dawn, I can’t have the TV make static noise all night… that would remind my girlfriend of that Poltergeist movie.

How do I fall asleep easier?




I have tried everything, I mean EVERYTHING to fall asleep better, lights on and off, counting backwards and forwards, exercising every day, taking a hot bath/shower before I go to bed. What is something that I can do to AK sure that I fall asleep easily and quickly?

How do you cure insomnia?




I’ve tried everything and i cant sleep at night. I’ve counted, relaxed everybody part one by one, listened to music, red before bed, calmed my mind, made it cool, made it warm, tried a hot bath. Nothing works and i have to get up at five every morning and im way tired in the morning. Any advice?
