Is the herb pill valerian root good for anxiety?

I’m worried about my health, I have really bad anxiety attacks which makes my chest really sore and I’ve tried paxil, and now celexa which worked for awhile but now i have 5 or 6 panic attacks in 1 day. So will this herb pill work with the anxiety and attacks?

I only sleep for atleast 4-5 hours a day in the morning before work. My work starts at 9pm-6am. Is it ok for my health?

I don’t know much about reflexology, just that certain places on the hands and feet correspond to various other parts of the body and its organs. But does reflexology offer anything in the way of help for better sleep? I’ve had chronic insomnia following a traumatic event a decade ago. It’s hard for me to fall asleep, stay asleep, or sleep deeply, and my health has really suffered as a result. No pharmaceuticals (I’ve tried them ALL), herbal remedies or "sleep hygiene" tips I’ve been given over the years has done a bit of good. I’m planning to try hynpnotherapy, EMDR and Alpha-Stim soon with a new, very experienced therapist, but was also curious about reflexology.

Part of the reason of my headaches is probably because I don’t wear my contacts all the time. But even when I do wear them, I get lots of headaches. Usually in the afternoons. Also when I was at school, it would be at the end of school. When I got home and went onto the computer and got something to eat, they would subdue. What else could be causing it?

Also, I have insomnia /a lot/ I won’t be able to go to sleep until 2, 3 am when I get into bed at around 11. I sometimes will take melatonin to help, but it doesn’t always work.

Lastly, my hands sometimes really hurt around the wrists. It’s sorta like a cramp, but feels like a sprain or I’ve worked it too hard. Isn’t that the symptoms of carpal tunnel? I am on the computer a lot, and I type really fast, and well, but I am in the proper ‘home key’ position. My posture isn’t always ‘Back Straightt, legs flat on the floor, etc etc’ Could that have anything to do with it?

-Like i’ve said before, I am on the computer way too much. This I know :c but the computer often helps me relax…Posting this it is probably obvious that part of the reason is I need to limit myself to my computer time…but what else?

-These three things together, is my health really bad? Eating right is not an issue, and I do exercise.

Can anyone please help me! Tell me information of why I might be having these issues. If it’s the computer thing, can you tell me why and what I can do to stop, and what I should be doing instead?

I am 14 and have a really bad sleeping habit. I’m kind of a procrastinator which doesn’t help. I fall asleep at 2 or 3 am on school nights and wake up at 7am. I’m very concerned for my health and need help please.

I read this poster that said less then 8 hours of sleep can be bad for someones health as well as more then 9 hours of sleep. Sometimes on weekends I sleep very late and then wake up at noon, (getting 12 hours of sleep. ), if it’s true why is too much sleep bad for you?

Criteria, in no particular order:
- Price – I don’t want to spend much money. Three bucks at Starbucks is way too much. At each, Red Bull is pushing it. I know I can do better than that.
- Taste – I don’t like the taste of coffee much, so some alternative would be good.
- Caffeine content – I’ve read that the recommended max intake is 200mg per day. I’d like to find something that gets me around 80-120, and would be best if I can consume it all at once, since I usually just get sleepy in the early afternoon.
- Health – I want it to be healthy, so things with lots of sugar are out. I don’t mind calories though – I’m a skinny guy.

One thing I’ve tried is green tea, which is really healthy and cheap and tastes ok, but at only 20-30 mg caffeine per cup, I never notice the effects.

Also, if anyone has suggestions for a safe substance besides caffeine to keep me energized, that would be good too.

He doesn’t fall asleep until around 11-11:30pm and is awake before the sun comes up, usually before 7 or right around that. We’ve tried different sleeping arrangements, all of which have failed. We don’t know what to do anymore. He is constantly cranky because of this, he doesn’t eat much, and we are afraid for his health. The doctor won’t do anything about it, says it’s "normal", but I know something is wrong, mother’s intuition. Has anyone else had these problems, and what have you done that helped the situation? Any advice is welcome. Thank you.

My boyfriend’s aunt passed away in her sleep, but we suspect there may be foulplay. The death came as a huge surprise, she had been in relatively stable health, just old and unable to get around. The family had a caregiver to watch her, but we think the caregiver had been giving her sleeping pills when family wasn’t around. Is it possible to overdose on these pills and cause death, even just a small accidental overdose?

How can I stay awake in the day without caffeine?




I’ve been very tired for the past 2 weeks. I have had about 7 hours average of sleep at night. I don’t drink coffee to keep myself awake and I don’t use caffeine pills. I am not stressed out at the time being and my health is perfectly fine. So what’s your diagnosis for me?
I see your point in changing the diet. I haven’t really changed much about it. Not the amount I eat, but more of when I eat dinner. I try to eat dinner earlier so I can have more time to do more things.

Everyone tells me I’m too young to be taking sleeping pills to sleep. There is not a single night I haven not taken them. It’s got so bad that there are nights I have to take 3 of them to sleep. Sometimes they dont even work. I don’t know what to do anymore. My last option is a sleep doctor to help me with this. I have become so used to it that I can’t even fall asleep with out them. I have tried so hard to go sleep with out taking them and have been unsuccessful and I really want to stop. Even when I’m so tired I just can’t seem to just fall asleep like I used to before with out them. My family, friends and everyone I know have tried helping me and still no change. I know in the long run it’s really going to affect my health my mom also has the same problem she has been taking them for 20 years now and I definitely don’t want to be taking them for that long. Has anyone ever experienced this or know any remedies. Any advice you can give me would be really appreciated.

When I mean sleeping pills, I’m talking about over the counter pills you get at walmart like tylenol. I have never taken any of those really strong ones like ambien. I’m 21 I’m college and I work so I buy everything for myself. My mom doesnt even encourage me to take them. And I will never smoke weed, never have and never will. I think my lack of sleep or not been able to sleep is due to stress in my life, I’ve been through a lot over the past years of my life.
