My father was taking one or the other sleeping pill and also drinking. falling, not remember, and mood changes happened. Once he parked the car into the garage and forgot to shut it off till the next day. The doctor did nothing to stop this. I called several times, this past 2 months. One night he fell once again and not knowning where he was. He also said he hit his head after getting him back to bed. He died that night and the doctor says he was old and had health problems. I do not believe this. This is not why he died. Taking Ambien CR or Rozerem is pretty powerful sleeping pills. And having a doctor who knows his patient is also a heavy drinker should have his license pulled. Has anyone dealt with either of those two sleeping pills? I need help. Thank You

people who have insomnia sleeping problems?

I want to say first of all I am in the class of people who can’t sleep. I have to take Ambien each night. I stopped for a while but my nights just got to much for me to handle so my doctor put me back on this stuff.

My question is when I was on ambien for three years before it would only take me 30 minutes to be sound asleep. Now since I am back on it my body wants to fight and not shut down and sleep. What is the problem here?
Could it be because my 17 yr old son is serisouly having health problems right now I am stressed and my body is over taking the ambien? My thinking process won’t shut down.
Any answers would be apperciated.

Do I have a sleep disorder?

I have never had this happen to me before. I am getting so confused because I don’t know if I just dreamed this or actually did it.

Well, the night before last night I remember sleeping very restlessly. I also think I remember my calf muscle on my right leg was exposed to the air, and it was quite cold. Anyway, at some point during the night (and I was asleep for this…or semi conscious at least) I suddenly felt very heavy and slightly paralysed and my right calf muscle hurt SO much. It was like burning, like a really, really bad cramp and it was making my whole body just hurt. But for some reason I didn’t wake up despite this intense pain, instead I sat up and just screamed and yelled and held my leg. Then the next thing I remember is waking up and it being morning. And my leg hurt, but the pain was like it was before, except to a less extent.
I have no idea what happened! I don’t know if I dreamt all that and I’m remembering the dream and my leg hurting is just coincidental or did I really do that in my semi-conscious state? I remember trying to wake up and open my eyes at that stage but I just couldn’t.

Anyway, the next night, which was last night, I kept waking up every hour, end even then I wasn’t fully ‘awake’, I just remember seeing the clock and what time it was, but I wasn’t fully conscious. Then, I had a weird dream that there was a huge spider crawling across my pillow and I jumped out of bed, ran to the light and switched it on and started at my pillow for a few mins and seeing the spider there before it disappeared… and then returning to bed when there was nothing there…But I wasn’t awake for this! I remember doing it or at least dreaming it but I wasn’t aware or really controlling what I was doing or thinking.

I’m only 17, so I don’t have any health problems. I have been under a bit of stress with school and I have been living with my dad and brother and we really don’t get along so that causes some tension.
I know depression causes uneasy sleep…and I do have a mild case of depression. And only today I got my period, so I always get a bit emotional before I get it.

What does this all mean? Do I have some sort of sleep disorder? Or this some weird one-off thing?

If a person snores, could it be because they are not breathing right, due to weight, and/or weak lungs/respitory system or in other words being out of shape and not in good health? In other words can it be a sign of health problems and a warning to get in shape? Or do healthy people snore too? Just curious.

I’ve been on meds for 12 years and had no real relief. I am either riddled with anxiety or depressed. Insomnia is a nightly battle. I hate to whine, but I am at my wit’s end. I think of suicide daily (although I made the decision several years ago that I will never do it, and if I change my mind I would call for help). I am lonely and desperate. Any ideas?
I guess I failed to add one other mental issue: delusional thoughts. I can find the worst case scenario in daily issues. Most of these thoughts are related to death and health problems. Funny for a guy who doesn’t have much of a will to live.

I haven’t been sleeping well at all for the past few days. I sleep only three hours at night and none at day. My diet hasn’t changed too. But I am suddenly facing vomitting, diarrhoea and upset stomach problems. Is lack of sleep directly linked with indigestion? Note that I have been lying down (not sleeping) all day and talking on the phone all day. Are these significant in creating any health problems?

In Sept I weighed 140 lbs and went on Yaz (a new birth control pill that supposedly does not make you gain weight) because I have severe PMDD. In 2 months I gained 20 lbs, but on the bright side my PMDD symptoms have improved a lot.
At 160 lbs, I went on Zoloft and gained 10 lbs.
(I have social phobia, body dysmorphic disorder, and anxiety)
Then I switched to Lexapro, and gained yet another 10 lbs.
At 180 lbs, I was put on Effexor XR and my doctor told me it would help me lose weight. I gained 15 pounds.
I have been dealing with insomnia and have had no relief from any of the sleep medications out there (Ambien, Lunesta, Restoril, Rozerem, etc). My doctor prescribed me Remeron and it is the only thing to work. Sadly, it has caused me to gain another 20 lbs.

I AM SO DEPRESSED. I have gone from weighing 140 lbs before drugs, to 215 lbs, a total of 75 pounds in only 7 months and I am only 21! And, since I have BDD I can no longer go out in public because I am so ashamed.
The Zoloft caused the insomnia and to this day I cannot sleep without the Remeron, and I went off the Zoloft 5 months ago.

The Remeron causes me to be sluggish.I have no energy to even walk around. I need to get off of it. What can I take that will be sedating enough that will not cause me to gain weight, or will possibly help me lose weight?

I limit my food intake and the Effexor makes me not hungry so it’s not that I’m eating myself away. I can’t excerise due to health problems and the Remeron makes me so exhausted.

I’m going to see my doctor and discuss this with him. Any suggestions on antidepressants (possbily ones that cause sleepiness) that would help me to lose all of this weight? Anyone with a similar experience?

Is EMDR effective for anxiety?

My psychologist would like to try EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help with severe anxiety and fears and phobias I’ve been struggling with for quite some time. They developed after years of battling health problems and not getting any relief or treatment. I have really bad insomnia as well. I know this is typically used for PTSD, but can it help with anxiety? Have you had personal experience?

Over the past few weeks I usually stay up between 5-7:30 AM and sleep till around 3 or 4 PM. Even being active during the day, eating healthy and so on, my body still* responds in this same pattern. The thing is, I enjoy sleeping this way because I am a night person. I am 23, this isn’t the first time this has happened. I am wondering if there are health problems that I could gain from sleeping like this.

I am really curious. At night when I sleep I like to sleep I do not sleep with my body straight. I prefer to keep my body in different angles and positions. I know we all do sleep like that. What I want to know is the psychology behind it. Medically different body positions while sleeping I believe represent some health problems in the body. What are those problems? How to predict problems based on the body position? What is the psychology behind it.
