What are some good non-habit forming sleeping aids?




besides anti-histamines (benadryl, tylenol PM, etc) what are some effective sleeping aids which are non-habit forming?

for many years, i had sleep problems
i sleep late and wake up late, and my sleep hours shift hours later then the day before
its not just a habit, i believe i hear its also little related to genetics, which i get from my dad
like i need at least 9 hours of sleep to not feel like crap throughout the day

but is there any methods that can be advised to me?
will sleeping LESS than my natural need of sleep be bad for my health?

How do you sleep through a snoring husband?




I have been sleeping alone for almost 6 years now because of DH’s snoring. It is so loud I can here it though a shut door with a white noise machine on. Is there a way to drown out his chainsaw snoring? I would like us to share a bed again.
Yes, we have been through 2 sleep studies, I breastfeed and don’t want a sleeping pill habit and earplugs are useless. We have tried breathing strips as well. No success.

I have been taking Ambien to help me sleep for about 2 years now. I would love to stop taking it but having a hard time. Has anybody kicked this habit successfully? Any suggestions for how to quite?

what do i do about sleeping problems?




well, i’m always sleepy during the weekdays and this really affects me through out the day. i’ve been trying to break the habit of doing things last minute for the past 3 years. nothings worked. then when i go to bed i have lots of things on my mind. and in the morning i’m always late. what can i do?

Is there a way to prevent snoring?




Hello everyone. I’m a female, and I really want to stop my snoring habit, because it always seems to interfere with my daily life. Even if I sleep a full 10 hours, I still feel sleepy in the morning, which I think is because of snoring. I was wondering if there was a way to prevent it, or possibly get rid of it for good.

I use to drink several pots of coffee daily, now I am down to a 12oz cup in the morning and a 12 oz in the afternoon. The problem I have is my job require me to get up very early sometime as early a 2:30 am. On my days off I want to sleep in but wake up between 4-5 am with a splitting headache that lasts all day. I am tired of fighting headaches on my days off and want to kick the caffeine habit altogether but the headaches are preventing me from stopping cold turkey.
Does anyone have any suggestion or have faced the same thing in the past?

How to cure my case of insomnia?




I’m too young to have insomnia but I think I do. I can’t go to a doctor. I usually sleep at 9, but then I wake up around 2-3 am. on lucky days, I sleep to 5. I don’t have depression or anything, but I think it runs in the family. This happens almost everyday. How do I stop this habit?
I have had insomnia symptoms for over a year but it hasn’t really bothered me. Maybe I’m just a short-sleeper.

My 13 month old still needs a bottle to fall asleep. He was nursing for 12 months and I thought weaning him may stop this habit. Now he needs a bottle to go down for naps and bed…he’s also up 4-5x a night still
Often he refuses to eat solids during the day….all he’ll want is a bottle. Some days, he has quite a bit of solids, and still wakes up all night!

My dog is about 6 years old and has been sleeping with me since she was a puppy. I am getting ready to go to college and my parents are not able to sleep with her because they are allergic. I’ve developed this habit of staying up all night and sleeping all day. And now I find it really hard to sleep at night. Even when i’m tired I still can’t fall asleep and I end up getting out of bed and doing something else. How can I go back to sleeping at night?
