My mom recently got me melatonin due to my horrible sleeping issues. I’ve been taking it every night to help me sleep better. But ever since I have started taking it, my emotions have been out of control. The littlest things piss me off to the point of panic attacks. I’m trying to figure out if it is possible to be addicted to Melatonin, a common off-the-counter sleep-aid. If it is possible to be addicted, what are the signs? When I say addicted, I mean overdosing the substance, not taking average doses. Also what can happen if continued?
My friend told me that he takes it for other reasons. He claims that if you take enough of the substance, it shuts down some of his emotions. Since he is in a state of depression, he takes it to do this. I notice he shakes during the day, right before night comes, and he is very sleepy/exhausted.
