Sleep Apnea possible misdiagnosis?

I just had a sleep study done at my local sleep center and the doctor diagnosed me with sleep apnea. I am having a little apprehension about this diagnosis because my symptoms do not match any of the normal symptoms. I have fatigue, difficulty falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep, sleep walking and talking(the talking more frequent) and hallucinations while I am sleeping. The last symptom is almost like I am half asleep but I am conscious of my surroundings. For example, I was sleeping but I thought my puppy was laying on the bed with me but he clearly was not. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had my symptoms or even I would like your general input.

I am keen to hear about anyone’s experience at this Brisbane sleep clinic. My ten month old still does not sleep through the night. He also has a lot of trouble getting to sleep for his naps (even though he is exhausted). This has not just developed. He has never slept longer than 6 hours and 30 mins. I will be returning to work soon and now face the fact that I might have to employ "control crying". For both him and I. I am worried though. My Doctor would like me to try the Ellen Baron Centre. What do you think?

What would make a dog collapse into a deep sleep, other than narcolepsy?

Our 18-month old male goldenlabradoodle was diagnosed with narcolepsy/cataplexy on October 7, 2010. He has periods where he collapses into a deep sleep – mostly while eating or while going for a walk. We are second-guessing the diagnosis, however, and wonder what other conditions might cause Duke to collapse into a cataplexic state other than narcolepsy.

What is the cost of narcolepsy medication?

I’ve been interested in the cost of narcolepsy medication, and just treatment of narcolepsy in general. I’m pretty clueless as to how someone could get medication for the condition. Is it purely prescription based? How much are prescriptions costing you? Do free-clinics give out prescriptions or do you have to pay for medical insurance to go see a doctor for diagnosis and prescription? Are there any over-the-counter drugs available for narcolepsy?

I’m interested because I’m doing a study for a short documentary on narcolepsy.

What do you think of a man with AIDS sleeping around & not disclosing his condition?

What do you think of a 43 year old gay man, having unprotected sex [OR purposely sabbotaging the condom] with anyone, and not disclosing that he is HIV positive?

This man is really angry & hurt, and admitted that he "wants others to suffer" like he is.

Also, is this true – he tells me that he is NOT required by law to disclose!!

WTF??? Isn’t this pre-meditated murder??
My relationship with this person was counsellor/ client, so I was bound by confidentiality.

It was in Australia, where the law is clear regarding some aspects, like once diagnosed the clinic will inform previous partners [if you can remember or even know who they are]. But in regards to post-diagnosis behaviour, there doesn’t seem to be a LAW. Even so, by the time someone found out they had contracted AIDS, I doubt they’d be able to identify him [booze + one-night-stand syndrome].

With his current behaviour, no, i don’t know who his partners are, & neither does he – he’s just bar hopping to see how many he’l l "get" in one night. Also, even though he’s gay, he’s sleeps with women as well.

How can I stay awake in the day without caffeine?

I’ve been very tired for the past 2 weeks. I have had about 7 hours average of sleep at night. I don’t drink coffee to keep myself awake and I don’t use caffeine pills. I am not stressed out at the time being and my health is perfectly fine. So what’s your diagnosis for me?
I see your point in changing the diet. I haven’t really changed much about it. Not the amount I eat, but more of when I eat dinner. I try to eat dinner earlier so I can have more time to do more things.

can I overcome the use of a cpap machine. Ive been diagnosed with sleep apnea.?

Its seems as though there are ways to deal with the situation than there is to treat the condition. I want to overcome the use of the cpap machine and overcome the diagnosis of having sleep apnea. I am slightly overweight. I don’t know if me losing weight will help any.

Sleep apnea, little REM sleep, insomnia?

Hi there-
Recently diagnosed with moderate to severe sleep apnea. Also it has been stated that I am not staying in REM sleep for any useful length of time.
I usually sleep very little at night…always have been nocturnal.

I sleep best during the day. But the last 5 months have been rough.
I only stay asleep for a couple hours and then feel hyper and irritable when I get up.

New diagnosis of sleep apnea and very poor amount of REM Sleep.
I am doing a titration study tonight with c-pap machines to see what volume works for me.

I would like to hear from others on how if at all treatment has helped?
If your situation is similar to mine as far as minimal amounts of sleep with diagnosis of apnea?

What can I expect with treatment. Some have said they feel better right away. Others have said it takes awhile. I would like to hear anyone else’s experience with this.

PS…Do you ever adjust to life with that machine stuck on your nose?
And is there sex after c-pap even if your significant other doesn’t have a thing for Darth Vader breath sounds?

Seeing people in my room when they arn't there? (Sleep problems)?

I’m 14 years old, and I’m a girl. and I’ve been having sleep problems, well I don’t know if they are problems.
When I’m lying in bed (I’m not asleep) I can see and hear people around me, those people are my friends, they aren’t really there though, nobody is. I get paranoid, like i hide under my covers and I don’t want them too see me. I sit up and think to myself, "They aren’t even there!" but I still carry on to see and hear them. After waving my arm about. I don’t know if this is normal, I don’t want any mean comments saying I’m a physco, I just want some advice or diagnosis.
Btw, this year has been quite a crappy year for me. I got into some trouble at the start of the year, and I broke up with my boyfriend of 6 months a few months ago, and I don’t think I’m over him. (6 months is quite long for a 14 year old haha)
I dont know if that will help.
Please help?

How long will it take a therapist to diagnose me with bipolar disorder?

I am so certain i am bipolar, but i have not seen a therapist bc i didn’t have insurance, but now i do and i am going to make an appointment with one. SO my question is can i just tell him/her that i have bipolar disorder or will they have observe me a few times before they make a diagnosis..
