I’ve tried cleaning every part of the machine, tank, mask, hoses. (It has a passover humidifier) Changing the air filter, cleaning the room, the bedding, etc, hasn’t made any difference. It’s definitly the CPAP, not just another allergy, because if I don’t use it one night, the symptoms clear up, and return immediatley when it’s used again. Allergy meds don’t help at all! Can anybody relate or help me?

I’ve been using cpap for almost 5 months…I am sleeping wonderfully now, but ever since, I’ve had runny drippy nose and sneezing fits. Is this par for the course? Just wondering.

we’re not looking for a CPAP but a mouthpiece that keeps the lower jaw out.

The CPAP works when it stays on my head as I sleep, but it keeps coming off. I wouyld hope that someone out there is going through what you are going through and what are you doing to fix this problem.

My brother has been prescribed the CPAP and can’t tell much difference in his sleep. He is due to go for a checkup to the sleep clinic and doesn’t want to tell them this because he’s afraid they will make him go through another 00 worth of sleep tests to adjust settings or something.

So if he can make the CPAP thing work better without having to tell the docs, it will help his health and checking account. Anybody know about this?

Thanks =D

I have been using the cpap for about 6 months and still don’t feel refreshed after a good 7-8 hours of sleep.

What kind pillow do you use with a cpap machine?

For those who use a cpap, please. I am a side sleeper and wondered if the special pillows are worth it or do you have any "home made" pillow tricks?

I have severe sleep apnea. I sleep with a CPAP (continous positive airways pressure) machine. It works great, but my nose tickles several times in the middle of the night! I have to turn it off and scratch my nose before i can go back to sleep. What can i do to stop the ticleing????
The tickle is on the outside of my nose, not inside.

Sleep problems – not sleeping thru the night?

I take Lunesta. Have been off and on for about a year and a half. Lately I am not sleeping thru the night. I am waking up around 2-3am and pretty much awake until I have to get up at 6. I am exhausted. I have has some stress lately in my life. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this. I do have "mild" sleep apnea(I was told a cpap may or may not help). I snore some. And I sleep with earplugs…Does anyone have any ideas that might help me sleep thru the night? I exercise some, i am not overweight. I would prefer something that isn’t a medication solution. As I already take something…
I don’t know if my waking up is stress related and an anti depressant is the last thing I need.

Sleep Problems?

I have chronic sleep problems (over 10 years). I have extreme difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. I’m seeing a sleep specialist next week, but I’d appreciate some feedback on what to ask.

I had as sleep study done 10 years ago and was diagnosed with hypopnia (not apnea). CPAP seems to help, and is tolerable.

It’s hard to deal with the CPAP when you can’t fall asleep for hours, so I often fall asleep without it and it does little good.

I’ve been taking Ambien for 5 years, but it’s loosing effectiveness. Now it causes me to loose memory, and I’m getting up and doing things during the night with no memory.

I’ve gotten fed up with that side effect, and had my doctor switch me to Lunesta this week. It doesn’t have the knock-out punch of Ambien, but it seems like I’m still awake all night. I’m asleep at some level, but it sure feels like I’m awake.

I think all the Ambien does is make me forget I can’t sleep.

Any advice?
Hypopnia is where your breathing doesn’t stop, but it is shallow or slow. In my case it wasn’t impacting my blood oxygen saturation, but was waking my body enough that I rarely entered the "restful sleep" phase.

I’ve tried melatonin before, but it didn’t seem to help. Actually, I’ve read all sorts of books for answers or remedies, but nothing has been a magic bullet.

I’ve also had surgery to correct a deviated septum. That helped a little.

I think I’ve tried about everything. I’m hoping someone has some new cutting edge ideas. Right now I’m thinking of restricting myself to 4 hours of sleep a day. Maybe I just wasn’t meant to sleep a normal 7-8 hours.
