Why do I have sleeping problems laying down?

Every night i try to sleep and it takes me a while to fall asleep. Sometimes in the night time i wake up. In the mornings i feel like a zombie and can’t do anything, but sometimes when i am in school i can fall asleep with no problem when I am sitting upright in my desk or when i am on a couch just sitting on it instead of laying down. Why is this happening? i just want to sleep normally

My also 3 year old has been in his toddler bed for over a year but he wakes up every night. If he sleeps away from home and in a big bed he sleeps with no problem a few times he has slept in our bed and we fell asleep on the couch and he slept all night? Is the problem the toddler bed or just a toddler that doesnt want to stay in his own bed?

How do I teach my dog from sleeping on the couch?

My dog knows not to sleep on the couch. But when we are not looking she will jump on it. I will especially see her sleeping there in the morning. We have tried laying an ironing board across it, but I don’t want to have to remember to do that every night.

All I know to do is tell her "no" and smack her on the nose. Any other suggestions?

Is it really better to sleep on the floor?

For the past month Ive been sleeping on my couch in the basement since its much cooler during the summer, but the cushions are extremely soft/mushy causing me alot of back pain. I always heard that sleeping on the carpet floor is really good for the spine. Is this really true and would it take away my back pain?

Does a better matress mean better sleep?

I sleep on a couch………….. I sleep for 12 hours some nights. Would I need less sleep if I slept in a bed? Or on the floor even?

It usually takes me a very long time for me to finally go to sleep. I don’t know why…My mom can fall asleep in like 5 seconds. You know she’s sleeping because she snores. She’s reading a book or something on the couch, she turns off the light, and 5 seconds later she’s snoring her head off! But it takes me, usually, about 1 hour or so to fall asleep. Sigh. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes the average person to fall asleep? I don’t think I am the average person!

My bf is 34 y/o, 5’10" 300lbs. I believe he has a serious sleep disorder, but he doesn’t want to admit it. He says it’s his weight and doesn’t get enough sleep. First of all, He sleeps ALL the time. Right now, he doesn’t work so I know that he’s not sleep deprived, over worked or getting up early. He will fall sleep during the day.morning/evening on the computer with the mouse in his hand and sometimes wake up and continue where he left off. He has fell asleep a few times on the toilet. I have caught him several times during the day, drift off while driving and me in the passenger side. He has even fallen asleep at a red light in the afternoon. He falls asleep while I’m talking to him. What has got me asking this question is that we recently had a baby (2 weeks old) and he fell asleep while holding him on the couch and dropped him!!!!!!!! I’m so upset with this I wont allow him to hold him anymore unless he is wide awake….and I don’t know when that is. One time, he slept for almost 18 hrs straight! Help!

I just got my living room furniture re-done and my two cats have decided to make it their own. They have been scratching here and there, and sleeping on the couch, leaving lots of fur all over. I put sheets over the furniture, but it seems silly to have new furniture that I can’t even see…I love my cats, but I need to figure this out. Thanks everyone!

I snore pretty loud and my husband says I grind my teeth. He wakes me up atleast twice a week and he is fed up! I either have to sleep on the couch or sleep at the end of the bed.

What are some effective ways to stop snoring?

My boyfriend doesn’t snore constantly, but when he does, he keeps me up at night. I end up having to sleep on his couch. He has tried nasal strips, and they are only effective 50% of the time. Any suggestions?
Breathing strips do not work, he is not overweight, and he has told me that he doesn’t want to spend money seeing a specialist. He sleeps on his side for a little while, but ends up on his back. Any other suggestions?

i am 26 years old and have had fibromyalgia since i was 14 (!! i know!)

i was initially diagnosed when i was 14, but was so young and naiive, i shrugged it off.

about a month ago, i thought i had double ear infections and my jaw was killing me. i was diagnosed with TMJ. i started wearing a night guard and the symptoms have subsided for the most part other than occasional clenching.

i suffer from almost daily migraine headaches, dibilitating trigger point pain, brain "fog", i have battled insomnia since i was a child, occasional depression, horrible "bathroom" issues, and most recently, constant back (spinal) pain. there is some history for you.

about 1.5 weeks after the whole TMJ issue, i started to have these awful knots in my back in the "common" fibro areas. i could feel them when i breathed and every masseuse cringed when they felt them. i got two massages within a week they were so bad. i got no relief.

then, one day about a week later, they subsided for the most part (thank god!)… but they were seeminly replaced with spinal pain! the pain shifts between my lower to mid to upper on a daily basis. my doctor has tried me on at least 12 medications since then, none work. my stomach does not tolerate medications well and i am either puking or no reaction to the meds. i get no relief from anything.

i have found that if i walk "too" long… like, an hour max… i start to cripple in pain. same if i sit too long.. yesterday i cleaned house for a long period of time (6 hours or so)… and once i was on the couch resting, i could not get up… it is the first time i couldnt get off the couch or from a resting position and i am scared..i have never had an injury nor any accidents. i sit at a desk 8 hours a day.

my question is this. my doctor has posed that i see a pain management specialist. i have had xrays that only showed spasms (this was when i had knots, not when the spinal pain started). i am scheduled for an mri to ensure there is no slipped disc or anything. the dr has brought up epidurals and spinal "blocks"…. i have never had either. the thought scares me like no other…

sorry so long, but i am so lost about all of this. i’d like to hear everyone’s thoughts about my symptoms and about the proposed treatment. i am open to everything. thank you so much.
fyi, they ARE referred to as trigger points. it seems they use both "trigger" and "tender" depending on what you read.

Now he won’t speak to me. His snoring has gotten worse over the years. I attribute it to his weight gain and have asked him to do something about it. Last night I couldn’t sleep at all and he snored louder than a bear. He got mad at my bickering and finally went to sleep on the couch.

Do you think I was too harsh?

We have a great sex life (day/night, whenever/where ever). But he goes to bed early & I watch tv on the couch. I fall asleep & find myself still there in the morning. He doesn’t like this at all. I plan to get a tv in the bedroom but he hates any light when he’s going to sleep!! Is this a fair compromise?

I sleep on the couch and it’s very tiny and the back pillows can’t be removed. I can’t get any sleep because i am so uncomfortable and I am always waking up with body aches on my back, neck, and arms. Since the couch is so small and i’m a side sleeper I have to sleep right on my arms which now if i move crack, well they make a cracking noise. I was just wondering if I can get any tips of making couch sleeping any better?
