My brother has been diagnosed with sleep apnea and the doctor hinted that he might need a respironics CPAP machine. Just want to be prepared for the cost.

My brother has been prescribed the CPAP and can’t tell much difference in his sleep. He is due to go for a checkup to the sleep clinic and doesn’t want to tell them this because he’s afraid they will make him go through another 00 worth of sleep tests to adjust settings or something.
So if he can make the CPAP thing work better without having to tell the docs, it will help his health and checking account. Anybody know about this?
Thanks =D

I started drinking a long time ago. I found it entertaining and a great way to make boring things fun. Eventually it lead to me drinking with friends, playing beer pong, etc. I hit a discovery that it helps me to go to bed once, so I drank occasionally when i couldn’t go to sleep. Of course, I would keep drinking to go to sleep in moderation. If you drink too much you won’t have proper REM cycles and the sleep I tried to gain would become useless.
Anyways, since the first of this year till now… I believe I have had about 15 to 20 sober days. A week ago I drank one half a liter of Heaven Hill Vodka (my favorite form of alcohol). I woke up with NO hangover. For some odd reason Heaven Hill just doesn’t give me hangovers… my brother said it is because I drink it often enough that I built up a tolerance and slowly worked away hangovers. With no hangover, I drank another half a liter of HH. Two days later i drank another half liter of HH. After that I decided to slow down, so I am on my 4th sober day (after 2 months of drinking solid), but i find not drinking boring. It gets late… I watch television…
Anyone have any comments on what i should do? I wouldn’t bother slowing down normally, but I thought about it and realized I am only 18……..

Due to my brother’s situation, I always assumed that there was only one type of bipolar disorder. Last year I discovered that there was more than one type, and I want to know what different types are there and how many exist just out of curiosity.

I accidentally took 2 of my brother’s topamax pills. I’m wondering if I can now take my prescribed ambien? I would think so seeing as topamax is not a heavy duty drug and I didn’t find any significant interactions with them. Anyone know?

My 14 year old brother has bipolar disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, fetal alchol syndrome, and oppositional difiance disorder. He and i were severely abused by my biological mother for many years, and all of the non-genetic disorders are results of the abuse. My biological mother also had many mental disorders, including the bipolar, which she passed on to him. I managed to escape the situtation with only bad memories and bruises. Why does he have so many problems and i have none? I am not saying that i want any of them, just wondering how i managed to not get them.
We have since been adopted and our entire family is in therapy. The therapist says that i have moved past my issues and have "healed", but because of my brother we are still in therapy.

My brother has been sleeping on air bed for about 6 years. He did in college, and now he has his own apartment and a job; he still sleeps on a air bed.
Are there any short term or long term complications on a person who sleeps on an air bed for a prolonged period of time?
If you can find a website on this matter, please post it here.
Thank you.

I frequently (about every other month) have dreams about staircases that have been altered in some way. Like, you’re going up & then at some point there’s a big gap in the steps & you have to jump to make it, or you fall a long ways. Sometimes there are obstacles you have to jump on or swing across to get to the next steps. I’m usually with people in these dreams, & they have no problem making it to the next step, but I’m freaked out that I’ll fall.
The other day, my brother told me he had a dream about a spiral staircase where the steps were lilypads, & it was hard to get from one to the other. He says that he dreams about weird staircases a lot, too.
What do these dreams mean?

How far does it go when a person snores? My friend told me, when a kid who snores at his very young age he may have a heart problem. My son is 8 years old now and he snores a lot. At first I got worried but then I thought it’s just a hereditary since my father and even my younger brother were snoring too. How true this can be?
