Drug which can put you into constant rem sleep?

Do you think it would one day be possible? For example a drug which can put you into a Light comatose state so you can experience dreams for hours! In a comatose state your in way too deep to have meaningful dreams and be able to lucid dream. Lets just say a drug which could put you into a permanent stage 1 and 2 sleep cycle which means you would be in constant rem sleep. Was just imagining the possibilities if you had a dream like drug which would put you under for a few hours. In the dream world it would be much longer. Also if you knew how to lucid dream prior to taking the drug. You could construct your own worlds, cities and creatures. I wonder if you could even make intelligent beings with different personalities.
After more thinking I don’t think a drug could completely block out the the deeper stages of sleep. Would it be possible to surgically remove these from your brain? If you could and were put it a comatose state would you be in a constant stage one and two sleep stage? Would human beings be able to survive without stage 3 and 4 sleep cycles? Also sorry to add another question but is it possible to do this?

Any ways to increase time spent in Rem Sleep?

I have severe insomnia, I have difficulty falling asleep, and difficulty staying asleep. I had a sleep study done once, and I was informed that when I enter into the deeper stages of sleep (Rem and such) that for some reason I came right back out of them, sometimes coming fully awake. This seems to be part of the reason why I wake up, as I usually awake during dreams.

My question is, is there ANY possible way to keep my brain in the deeper stages of sleep? I have seen a sleep specialist, he basically just said " sucks to be you" and then added that I was too young to be prescribed sleep aids.

My old doctor had me on valium and or paxil since high school for panic attacks and now that I’ve moved to a different city I’ve been to 3 doctors and they either "don’t believe in them" or just won’t give them to me. I know I need them sometimes I feel like my brain is going to explode if I don’t calm down n nothing I try helps. So if anyone has any answers for me that would b great ..

I have a hard time going to sleep for like the past month since I got out for school for my winter break. Started going to bed later (like 4AM) because I was watching this TV show Half and Half. Even then I had problems falling asleep. I will always have thoughts in my head when I lay down. It seems like my brain doesn’t want to stop working. Is there anything I can do to help cure this. I exercise early in the day and I don’t drink much caffeine (even though I drink my sweet Ice tea once a day).

I have tumors on my brain that bleed every now and then, and they cause me to have seizures(epilepsy). Could marijuana effect me in anyway because of this? After i did it i have trouble with tunnel vision and when i lay on my back for a couple minutes i get this weird tingling sensation and i won’t be able to move my body. Like when i get these feelings i know somethings wrong but i can’t move. Does anyone know what that could be? Or could marijuana have something to do with that?

I just quit drinking a week ago. I used to drink about 5 cans a night and then sleep. Now I’m sleeping naturally. The problem is that I get Horrific and/or wierd dreams every night. I only get about 4 hours a sleep; when I wake up, I can’t get back to sleep. I now get tired very easily during the day. I’ve heard that this is normal because my Liver is repairing itself. I also heard that my brain is trying to get used to reaching all 4 stages of the sleep cycle.

What’s going on?

P.S. If you wonder what wierd dreams I’m getting, last night I dreamt that Robocop went to space in a rocket ship. I don’t even like Robocop the movies.

Shouldn’t the neurotransmitter melotonin cause me to be more sleepy during the night? Is my brain messed up?
The sun causes me to feel sleepy.

How does Bipolar Disorder affect the Body?

It’s for a science project. So does anyone know how Bipolar Disorder may affect the body? I know it has something to do with the brain but does it actually do any damage? Does the disorder itself cause damage directly??

If you snore and it prevents the REM cycle from occurring does the brain skip it or do you remain in an extra long deep sleep?

Is there some common symbols you can check from a book and tell what a dream means? Can dreams tell the future? Are dreams more like an indicator of what our mind is working on? Are we talking about a strong tool of psychology, or psychiatry? Or do you share the shamanistic view of people entering the dreamworld, where it’s possible to meet spirits and other entities? Or are dreams nothing but random impulses in our brain, without any meaning whatsoever?
For shevek v: I know how to use wikipedia, thank you. Do you know how to read? If yes, how about reading the question you are going to answer?
