For the last 2 to 3 months I’ve been chronically tired. On occasion I’ve found myself sleeping in excess of 12 hours. Tests have ruled out Lyme disease and mono, but haven’t given an answer either. I eat relatively well. I don’t get as much exercise as I should, but I find when I do exercise an hour or so later I’m unable to stay awake.
I don’t have any chronic pain along with the fatigue. There’s not a chance I could be pregnant. I feel otherwise healthy, just tired all the time.
I have another appointment with a doctor next week. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could ask her to look for this time?
I take birth control pills and cytalopram on a regular basis, but I’ve been on both of those for over a year. I wouldn’t be developing side effects to them now.

I take Lutera birth control once daily. I’ve been on it for a while now. I have trouble sleeping at night. Like right now it’s 1:38am. And I want to sleep, but I can’t.
I am wondering if I can take CVS night time sleep aid with this birth control because I’m kind of a hypochondriac.
Please help me out

I’m on the birth control pill (Yaz) and I just started taking the sleeping pill Rozerem and I was wondering if it makes birth control less effective, because I’m in a serious relationship and I really don’t want any kids, but I have a lot of trouble sleeping.

Ever since summer started, I haven’t been able to go to sleep till around 5-8am. I know, it’s a ridiculously early time to fall asleep, but my body will not rest. I end up waking up around 1pm or 3pm at the latest, and since I’m being homeschooled this year, it’s not really a problem of when I wake up so there’s no reason for me to really fix my sleep schedule.
However, I have noticed that my eyes are starting to look really sunken in and my hands sometimes shake when I’m just relaxing. (ex: watching a movie, laying down, watching tv, reading, etc.) I keep getting muscle cramps in my chest and I feel very disoriented. I know I’ve been acting out as well, but I thought it was just the birth control making me a little more sensitive to emotions. Any way, I keep feeling like I’m going to have a panic attack, and although it’s not completely out of the ordinary for me to have them, they seem to be coming a lot more frequently and I’m feeling anxious constantly.
Is it the sleeping patterns, or something else like stress?
If it is the sleeping problems, I have no idea how to fix it. I’m pretty sure I’m an insomniac because I always seem to have troubles falling asleep, especially if I am alone in my bed.
Any suggestions?

Almost every night she complains that she can’t sleep and so as not to bother me by tossing and turning, she goes out for a drive and comes back a few hours later. The car seems to be soothing to her because sometimes she doesn’t get back until the next morning. She says when she finally gets sleepy she has to take advantage of it because it could pass so she parks the car wherever she is and dozes off until morning. This can’t be good for her because when she gets home her clothes are all ruffled and her make-up is smeared. She looks like she was in a fight and she complains that her back and her legs are sore. This is really annoying to me because in this condition she never wants to have sex anymore so now it’s affecting me.
I need to know how to cure her of insomnia so she can stay home and have a good night of sleep.
BTW, she can’t take sleeping pills because she says it interferes with her birth control pills, and the she said the Doctor concurs.
Thanks for the help.

I have an extremely bad period, and on one of my previous questions I was told that it’s ridiculous that my mom won’t take me to the doctor. It’s pissing me off because I’m concerned that it could be something serious — I simply want to check if it’s something serious or nothing to worry about, but she yells at me saying she doesn’t want to pay 60$ to be told that I should go on birth control. I mean, I don’t really want to go on it either because I don’t want it to screw with my hormones. But there’s got to be other things to help it, right? Every month I have to deal with: Being bent over and moaning with pain, throwing up the whole first day, being nauseous for the 2 days following, and I’m taking painkiller as often as I can for the whole 8-10 days (10 days once but haven’t had it for that long recently, so basically 8-9 days) of my period.
The past month, I’ve been less hungry. It’s not that I don’t mind making something to eat, no problem. I just don’t feel like eating anymore. Most of the time I’ll go a whole day without eating until dinner. It might be because I never see my parents anymore and then when I do, they ignore me.
I’ve been asking my mom to take me to the doctor constantly since last month — I was at my dad and stepmoms house in Arizona when I got my last period and she said "Maybe I should talk to a doctor". Well… that never happened. Now she keeps talking about homeopathic bullcrap. The only thing she got me were some pharmacy vitamins that are basically like giant Smarties. I stopped taking those last week because I now have a really bad cankor sore. Tonight I got mad at her for ignoring me and she told me to take some stupid homeopathic stress relief pills. But now I’m dizzy as eff, and that’s probably not good. I don’t know if this helps, but I also have some homeopathic sleeping pills because I have insomnia. They don’t work so I just deal with it.
Basically my mom is pissing me off because: She’s putting me on homeopathic bullcrap that DOESN’T work and won’t take me to the doctor because of my horrifyingly bad period because she doesn’t want to be told about birth control, when there could actually be something very wrong with me. Advice please???

Also, the glands in my jaw/neck area hurt a bit. Something to ignore?

I’m on Zoloft for anxiety & have a history of depression. I want to switch to a different anti-depressant, start taking sleeping pill and go on birth control to curb p.m.s and menstrual pain. What would be a good combination? I’m seeing a doctor about it in a few days but I want to have an educated guess before I see her.

I am currently taking some various medications that are causing me to be tired all the time. I take Lamictal for my epilepsy, another for vertigo, naproxen for migraines, and birth control. I have noticed that all the medicines have drowsiness as a side effect and I am feeling the wrath. Does anyone have any suggestions so I am not soo tired all the time?

A doctor who had been seeing an 80-year-old woman patient for most of her life finally retired. At her next checkup, the new doctor told the woman to bring a list of all the medicines that had been prescribed for her.
As the young doctor was looking through these, his eyes grew wide as he realized she had a prescription for birth control pills. "Mrs. Smith, do you realize these are BIRTH CONTROL pills?
"Yes, they help me sleep at night."
"Mrs. Smith, I assure you there is absolutely NOTHING in these that could possibly help you sleep!"
She reached out and patted the young Doctor’s knee.
"Yes, dear, I know that. But every morning, I grind one up and mix it in the glass of orange juice that my 16 year old granddaughter drinks. Believe me, it helps me sleep at night."

Whether this is all in my head or not, I have to take sleeping pills to sleep. They are generic OTC pills, usually the simply sleep stuff made my tylenol or something along those lines. I usually take between 1-2 pills, 25-50 mg of dyphenhydramine at a time, which is the recommended dosage. I have tried to not take them but I can’t sleep, and I’m sure it’s a mind thing now as well as the fact they actually work. But really, how bad would it be if took them everyday? Would it hurt my liver (or kidneys, I can’t remember which one is for meds) any more than birth control or any other meds that we take an a daily or near daily basis?

I’ve read in several natural remedy books that melatonin can be used as an effective method of birth control. Is there anyone out there who can explain how melatonin should be taken to prevent pregnancy, and if it is indeed effective?

I take a melatonin tablet every night before bed to help me go to sleep, but I wanted to make sure it won’t reduce the effectiveness of my birth control Yasmin pills. Is there anything else anyone recommends? So far, the melatonin doesn’t really seem to be working but I’ll try it.
