I see a psychiatrist for depression, panic disorder, adhd, ocd, anxiety, and suspected bipolar. My doctor isn’t sure about the bipolar part. But I’ve done research and I have every symptom but I have way more lows than highs. There are people in my life that are convinced i have bipolar disorder. I’m seeing my doctor tomorrow morning, but I was just wondering if it’s possible to have bipolar with much more lows than highs. Or is it more likely that my symptoms are caused by my severe depression and severe panic disorder?

I know of someone who has been suffering from bipolar disorder. She decided to join the Marines, after losing her job. Because she thought she needed some direction. She is on a waitlist currently, but was accepted. If the person lied about it, and has an episode during there stay, what are the consequences?
Sorry, I should have worded the title differently. But she was accepted. And she is on a waitlist for 6 months. How could they find out if this person has bipolar disorder. Do they check for that before you get accepted?

I have bipolar disorder and I have trouble staying motivated at work. So I haven’t worked for a year and a half. I feel bad about this. Maybe it is just me but I use to be the leader of the pack and I enjoyed working.

I have tried so many drugs in a bid to control my Bipolar Disorder but nothing seems to help or has hellish side effects. I would like to give Lithium a go but my psychaitrist is reluctant. I am predominately affected by depression but also rapid cycle. Does anyone have any experience of Lithium, good or bad?

Is there a chemical or hormonal test a doctor can give you to prove these disorders? OR do they just ask you questions about your mood swings and hand you the anti-depression/psychotics/anxiety prescription?
Has anyone out there been diagnosed with bipolar disorder or manic depression and calmed their symptoms with natural ways like exercise, healthy living, meditation, positive thinking/reading concentration? If so how and what would you suggest as an alternative to pill popping super meds for the rest of your life?

I had to get evaluated by a psychiatrist and therapist today for disability. I’d originally applied due to my bipolar disorder. Today after a long day the Psychiatrist spoke to me and told me he believes my bipolar diagnoses is right, but that he believes I also have Post traumatic stress disorder. I didn’t know you could have both. Is this common in people with bipolar? I already see a psychiatrist and social worker for therapy and plan to inform them of this new diagnoses.

I am on Lamictal (lamogtrine) as a mood stabilizer and the psychiatrist also prescribed Lexapro but it’s not covered on my insurance formulary. They will prescribe Celexa, but I read that there may be problems with it when taken for bipolar disorder. What medications have you had good results with?

If you know one, list it. But do NOT list sleep disorders, only other psychiatric conditions that involve sleep but are NOT sleep disorders.
It is not depression, bipolar disorder, or any disorder that you would learn about in a high school health class.
