OK, I’m a 20 year old female that has been suffering from severe sleep problems for about 2 years now. I can NEVER fall asleep easily. I don’t remember the last time I just laid down and had a good night sleep. I’ve tried everything I can think of:
I haven’t had any soda for 2 months.
I get lots of exercise during the day.
I don’t bring my home phone or my cell phone into the room with me at night. (Used to be a big problem for me)
No matter what time I go to sleep, I always get up around 8-9a which REALLY sucks sometimes, because, like last night I laid in bed til 7.30a before falling asleep.
I’ve tried reading, listening to extremely relaxing music, even watching infomercials.
I don’t know what to do to make my Dr. believe I have something going on with me.
Any suggestions??
I’ve had blood tests run on my thyroid and they say everything is normal, but thyroid problems run in my family. I just don’t think my Dr.’s are caring enough it seems. I ALWAYS feel like they think that I am making it up. I feel like my age makes it look like I will abuse any drug they put me on.
I have been on 20mg of Paxil for about 6 months for bipolar (which I feel is the wrong medication) and I think it gives me nighttime anxiety.

I have bipolar disorder and for those that have it….alot of other things come along with it such as personality disorders and other sometimes phobias. On the weekend I find myself trapped inside my bedroom till night fall and unable to leave because I’m scared of people. I don’t like being in public areas and is always concerned with what other people think. I want to find a new job but afraid I will fail because I’m not good at what I do. I know its all in my head but any techniques or personal techniques I can do to lower the anxiety I have.

I’m on Zoloft for anxiety & have a history of depression. I want to switch to a different anti-depressant, start taking sleeping pill and go on birth control to curb p.m.s and menstrual pain. What would be a good combination? I’m seeing a doctor about it in a few days but I want to have an educated guess before I see her.

I started taking anti-anxiety pills 3 days ago (I have to take them 2 hours before bedtime) and the doctor mentioned drowsiness as a side effect for "a few days". I’m 15 if that makes any difference, but when will my drowsiness subside? The drowsiness is also making me very irritable..
Thanks, and have a Merry Christmas!

I am taking venlafaxine for depression and anxiety, and I’ve mixed it with sleeping medication several times in the past month without consulting a doctor or pharmacist. I know that is risky, so I threw out all my sleeping pills and resolved not to buy any more. But now, I just don’t sleep, period. In the past three nights, I only slept for one of them, and that was from 3am to 12 noon.
Any suggestions? Thanks for reading.

Hi,
Has anyone else experienced drowsiness and difficulty waking whilst taking Seroquel 25mg doses? I’m wondering if there is a particular time to take it which works best or if the effects after wear off after a period of time (I’ve been taking it for about a week now for anxiety and sleep problems.)
No horror stories please, just want to hear from people who experienced drowsiness with the drug. Thank you.

My 15 year old son had a sleep study done and I just got a call to come in for an appointment. All they told me was he has no REM sleep at all? That is after 7 hours solid sleep, with sleep onset in 15 minutes of laying down. The main problem I have with him is he goes to bed about 1 hour later every night, (about a 30 day cycle actually) and if I attempt to disrupt the pattern – it causes him agitation, anxiety, daytime sleepiness. It is a very big problem that my son has an alien sleep pattern.

I have chronic insomnia and have tried everything such as prescription sleeping pills, anti-anxiety drugs, natural remiedies etc. Nothing works! However, I did some research and found an article on brainwave entrainment… by Philip Tsang the author of "How to Beat Insomnia". I never heard of this as a remedy and I am tempted to try it out. Does anyone have any info on this as a cure. I want to know before spending for the book. Thanks

Every night it takes at least an hour, 4 hours tops to get to sleep. Constently i have thoughts racing in my mind and recall memories of the past. i cant get my mind to stop thinking about these things and go to sleep. its not bad things, i usually am laughing remember all the good times. i have adhd, mostly inattentive but occasionally hyperactivity and my legs do move a lot when im in bed. i shift around a lot to. is this a sleeping disorder or just adhd?
by the way I’ve also been known to sleep talk and sleep walk if that has any importance. oh, and breath oddly
its not anxiety, the memories are typically pleasant
excersise? yes! i excersice (sorry im a bad speller) like 3 hours everyday with soccer. from like 2:30 to 4:30. sometimes i go to agility training after. thats not the problem

You see, there are these sleeping pills that give me euphoria and get rid of my anxiety, and the only person who’s got them is my mom. She hid them from me and I’m trynna find ‘em. If you were my mama, where would you hide your pills?

Lately it has been taking me a really long time to fall asleep at night (usually around an hour), and If I don’t fall asleep in like 15 minutes, I start to feel anxiety because I am not falling asleep fast enough, which makes it even harder for me to sleep. What can I do to fall asleep faster?
I can’t exercise much because I fractured my ankle.
