I’ve been on drugs for depression/anxiety/OCD/insomnia for 12 years, and I found almost no relief. Ambien works for insomnia, but I am addicted to it…psychologically at best. I have thought about giving away or selling all of my possessions (they are ~80% gone already - given to friends) and drifting in a hope to "find myself."

I have tried Lunesta with no luck AT all and Ambien helped some what for about a month. Now I am back to not sleeping. I know they all effect people different but I am hoping to find something that doesn’t make me groggy the next day but knocks me out at night! I have tried natural remedies, avoiding caffeine, getting exercise. Nothing helps! I am tired when I go to bed but I just lay there and when I do fall asleep it isn’t continuous.

I am a 30 year old female and have had sleeping issues going all the way back to my childhood. It interferes with every single area of my life. I was on ambien for 3 years but got off of it because I didn’t like the idea of having to take a pill for the rest of my life. I tried Melatonin, Lunesta, Sonata, EVERYTHING - ambien is the only thing that works. I’ve been off of it for close to 3 months and my life feels like it’s spinning out of control. I can’t sleep at night, sometimes (like tonight) pulling an all nighter and starting off my morning without sleep. I really think I will end up on ambien again, just for my own sanity. What’s the point of being off sleeping pills but HATING my life because of my sleep issues? I’d rather have to take them and have a normal life again. Will it shorten my life expentancy if I take Ambien everyday for the rest of my life?

I have heard this on the streets mostly with Seraquill but what about others like Lunesta and Ambien CR?

for better sleep? I have been on Ambien for years and now the Dr wants me to get off ambien and take Melatonin. I want to add the melatonion (natural ) to my ambien. What say you?

I’ve tried ambien and it makes me sleep -but I always feel like my eyes are really heavy and my head isn’t that clear the next day. What about rozerem? or lunesta? are they any different?

My doctor gave me ambien months ago but he took me off it after I told him that my girlfriend has reported me sleep walking, and one night I made about 10 calls on my cell phone singing to people (my girlfriend played me the message I left her) and not remembering it. Very rare side effect.

Given that knowledge what is another prescription sleep aid that might help that wont produce those side effects?

Tried Ambien, felt like I took some sort of acid or something.

Tried benadryl, works but leaves me sleepy, dragging and hungover all the next day

Tried melatonin, same affect as benadryl

I want to try a few natural remedies.

I’ve heard rescue remedy works well, also kava kava in the powder root- mix- and drink form

What is your very best natural sleep aid of all time? Please advise

I have bipolar disorder and I haven’t been able to sleep for five days now and my doctor didn’t seem that concerned. He gave me ambien cr to sleep which didn’t really work. I am affraid that I am having a manic episode and I don’t have a mental health doctor at the time and I am not really sure what I should do.

I know that the most common sleep aids prescribed are the non-narcotic sleep aids such as Ambien and Lunesta due to their decreased Habit forming characteristics but I would prefer the other type of sleep aid. I am a collage student so my previous doctors thought that I was just looking for a good recreational drug but really want it or need it
If anyone has information regarding the different classes of sleep aid and their reasons for prescription please ANSWER!!

I am 51. Do I need anything more than Imitrex for my headaches and Ambien CR for sleep? I don’t have any other symptoms.

I have had trouble sleeping for the longest time. I try not to take meds for it but sometimes I can’t help taking 2 tylenol PM every night. I saw some questions/answers on here that mentioned Melatonin. Is this a prescription like ambien or lunesta?
