Every time I go to bed, I lie awake for literally hours. I close my eyes, slow down my breathing and relax every muscle in my body to attempt to fall asleep, but it takes, at the very least, 45 minutes.
What do you all suggest, excluding the use of sleeping pills or alcohol, to expedite my quest to count sheep? For example, are there foods, certain music, or activities that help induce sleepiness? On that topic, should certain foods be avoided?
Please explain in detail the pattern that works for you and thanks ahead of time for an assistance.
Im so frikkin sick of not being able to sleep. I drank way too much coffee and was hyper the whole day. I just want to sleep but I have insomnia and need a sleep aid. Unfortunately I don’t have any alcohol with me and that woulda helped so much. The only think close I got is the pain killer codeine. Would it help me to sleep? And is it ok to take it or could it be dangerous?
if someone were to take a dosage of 10-14 sleeping pills with a very small amount of alcohol could it affect the person’s heartbeat and brain? or is it usually just anxiety pains?
yea that’s what i was thinking. what are some helpful treatments?
Does alcohol and sleeping pills knock you out if the sleeping pills don’t work by themselves?
What about three or four glasses of vodka or bourbon that couldn’t hurt could it?
Research shows depressed people have more REM sleep, and preventing it creates a remission of depression.
I’m looking for clinically proved, OR personal experience. Any supplements? St Johns Wort maybe? Foods? Not alcohol. Tips and trick on how to stop or lessen REM length are appreciated.
I have had trouble sleeping lately so I have been taking over the counter sleeping pills. On the bottle, it says not to drink alcohol with them as it will intensify the affects. Well, the sleeping pills were not really working, so last night I decided to take a shot of rum with them to see what would happen, and I fell asleep in 30 minutes! I was just wondering if anything bad could happen to me from taking the pills with alcohol? Other than the alcohol intensifying the affects of the sleeping pills, could anything negative happen? I need real answers though, not "just because it says not to do it" on the back of the bottle.
Willing to try anything short of alcohol or suicide. Have to work tomorrow (ugh… today). Please amuse me… if I can’t sleep, I might as well laugh
Ok, so…. I’ve cut out caffeinated beverages(soda, iced tea, red bull), quit consuming alcohol, tried to keep the stress to a minimum by meditating before bed.
I still can’t seem to get to sleep at night? I know going through a breakup doesn’t help put the mind at rest, but after 3 months I should be getting back to a regular sleep schedule, right? I’m physically exhausted most nights, but wind up starring at the wall for hours. Does anybody have any surefire ways to get rid of insomnia without Tylenol pm, or other prescribed sleep aids? Oh, I also quit watching tv in my bedroom, and nothing.
Help
I go to bed at 2:30 to 3:00 AM almost every night i and i still don’t fall asleep %40 of time. When i go bed at a more regular time like 12:00-12:30 i will probably only fall asleep 10%-15% of the time. Things are even wrose when school is going on i only get between 5-6 hours of sleep at night sometimes less or no sleep at all. I haven’t had any major tramus in my life, i don’t drink to much caffiene, i exericse EVERYDAY. I have drank a little before at parties and stuff but in past week i have been drinking every night to try and help my self sleep at little easier. I understand this could lead to a serious problem. By some people i am viewed as a very angry person i think my lack of sleep causes my grumpyness and i think that the alcohol makes it even worse. Do you think i have a condition, what do you make of all this?
How long doest alcohol and generic over the counter sleep aid stay in the system? I got a call today and I have to go to a place of employment for a drug screen. I drank about three drinks last night all with maybe 2 shots of Everclear in them, and went to bed around 1:30am. I have to take 2 sleep aids at night to get myself to rest. I am awake now at 12:15p. I feel absolutely normal and ready to go! Should I have anything to worry over about the drug test?
And I’m talking a small amount to drink, example one regular glass of red wine. How long does it take for alcohol to pass through your system? And how long do you have to wait after drinking to take a 3mg melatonin sleep aid pill?
I know, strange question. But someone in my apt building (the door directly across the hall from me, actually) did this at 5:30 this morning. I told the manager about it. My suspicion is drug usage, and I want him out of our building. But if this is caused by an illness, than it should be dealt with differently than if its drugs and/or alcohol.
Our few interactions with him have been brief, but he seemed normal. He’s a musician, and plays his music louder than appropriate after 10 p.m. But there is no indication that he has any type of mental disorders.
Has anyone heard of this type of behavior being caused by an illness, in an otherwise sane person? Are there any sleep disorders that can cause this type of behavior?
The guy is in his 20’s.
I did PERSONALLY witness this. I was bringing my husband home from work (he works nights) and we were walking up the stairs, when I was shocked to see him, since his balcony is just past the stairs. Thanks for the accusations, though.
No, this man was definately not cognisant, either sleep walking, drugs, or, ????. But it definately wasn’t that he just thought no one was looking. My husband even tried to address him, and he didn’t respond. He was vacant.
I am talking about a person who does not drink any alcohol, use any drugs (legal or illegal), and who has been this way most of their life? Also they are definitely a "morning person" but cannot focus well after about 8 pm and then start to sound naturally drunk by bedtime. (I know this is a sleep disorder because I found it once and now can’t remember what it was).
I am not talking about sleep deprivation. I’m talking about regular and normal hours of sleep, such as 10-6 or 11-7 every night.
I think it may be part of "Advanced Sleep Phase Syndrome." Anyone heard of this before? (I have Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome, the opposite of what I’m talking about here).
