I think I may have a very rare disorder called Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome, I was discussing with my mom my problem when I happened to come across it. Every night I have no trouble falling asleep, as I am very tired through out the entire day. Once asleep if some one tries to wake me, or if someone calls my cell phone I will carry a full 10+ minute conversation with them and wake up with no recollection of this. Upon my alarm clock ringing I will continually hit my snooze for almost 45 minutes before its even a thought in my brain of dragging myself out of bed.
I used to get up an hour and a half before I had to leave to do my hair and make up, and since last fall I have progressively gotten worse, waking up only 5 minutes before I have to run out the door to get to class or work on time.
Could I have a sleep disorder?
Do you know of any one with Delayed sleep phase syndrome?
Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks

I know how to do it when I’ve got an alarm clock that wakes me up early in the morning to catch up with my REM sleep cycle. But now I don’t have an alarm clock so I’ll just sleep through the night and just dream and be completely unaware of it.
Is there a different way I can lucid dream. I did a bit of research and it has to be during the dream cycle. But I aint got an alarm to wake me up during the dream cycle. Help lol I really love doing it.

I’m normally the kind of college student that gets 6 hours a night, and thats enough, and 7 is a great nights sleep. Within the last few nights I have been unable to wake myself up before 10:00 am. This included going to be around 11:00 pm. So I’m sleeping close to 11 Hours a night. My sleeping environment hasnt changed at all. My only concern is that it isnt even an issue of self discipline, as my alarm went off this morning I was unable to turn it off. I was messing around with button on top instead of the side(Have had the clock for over 4 years). When my cell phone vibrated and woke me up, I got up to turn off my alarm clock!
Any Expanations?

i usually dont have any trouble falling asleep
at night.
but when i wake in the morning i feel
like i only got about 4 minutes of sleep.
i find that setting my alarm clock to go
off every 45 minutes during the night
seems to help me feel like i have slept
more.
would this be considered a sleep disorder?
i was just wondering if i should bring
this up at a doctors appt.
by the way im only 17.

I’m a very busy person and can only get to bed at 12 pm each night. I have to wake up at 7 in the morning.
I need more sleep, but can’t go to bed earlier or get up later.
How can I get better sleep?
"Try to to bought a medicine that can cause you to sleep. Or buy an alarm clock and set the time."
Yeh that answers my question. Thanks for the help. GRR…

I get to sleep really easy, but staying asleep is the hard part. I either wake up in the middle of the night and then try to go back to sleep but it’s hard for some reason because when I wake up I can’t get back to sleep. Or I wake up automatically around 7 in the morning without a alarm clock when I was trying to sleep in.

I am a 20 year old female and I’ve noticed that my hands, especially my right hand shakes a lot. Even right now, when I lift my hand just about a centimeter off the keyboard, my right hand shakes a lot and the left hand shakes a little bit. My hand shakes when I do things like writing, eating, typing, etc. Also, I have a problem getting a lot of sleep, it is as if I have an alarm clock where I can only sleep about 5 hours even if I am tired. If I go to sleep at 12, I will wake up at 5, but if I go to sleep at 10, I will wake up a few times at the middle of the night, and when I calculate the total hours of sleep I had, it is usually about 5 hours also. It wouldn’t be much of a problem if I wasn’t sleepy during the daytime after sleeping for five hours but I am veeery sleepy during the daytime and it is a problem since I have a job. Also, when I am talking about something I do not feel comfortable talking about, the area under my left eye twitches. Is there something wrong with me?
Mmmhh…no, I have not lost weight, well I’ve been underweight since I was little…but thank you very much for the quick reply, and I will look into insomnia.
ok, this is not a detail but I don’t know how to write replies to answers so I will just post it here. Thank you very much for all your quick comments, I will be sure to go to a doctor soon! I knew I should probably go visit the doctor but I wanted to get some ideas of what could be wrong with me first so I could be more informed.

I work nights 5pm to 1am
i go to bed around 3am
set the alarm for 2pm
I sleep through it every time
I eventualy downloaded an alarm clock that you can adjust to be more effective, i set it to 1060 hz which was ear piercing to me.
set the 3 alarm clocks i have and the computer to 2 pm and i slept until 6pm the 3 clocks im assuming shut off long before i woke up but the computer was still going. and was still ear piercing when i finaly woke up
Why can i not hear ANYTHING when im sleeping, its been like this for as long as i can remember and ive lost a few jobs because of it, im coming close to losing a 4th job
Any suggestions? is this a sleep disorder?
also
if completely undisturbed i can sleep up to two full days non stop.
i dont usually wake up in the middle of the night at all and i dont even remember any of my dreams like i used to be able too.
the last three jobs i had were your average 9 to 5

Ever since I’ve been losing a huge amount of sleep regularly, my heart has been beating faster. Or so I think. I know that can’t be good and I know I need more sleep now.
One time, I went to bed around 11 and set my alarm clock for 9, but I woke up around 4. Then it took me a long time to fall back asleep again. My head was hurting as I tried. I hope it’s not a result of being used to not much sleep.
What can I do?

Let me first say that I am not a lazy person….but I can sleep unlimited amount of time and still be tired. I sleep through my alarm clock and don’t get up on time to go to class (college)…it’s caused problems between my husband and I because I sleep too late on the weekends, etc. My sleeping habits, problem…whatever you call it has caused distress in my life in more ways than one. And I have tried to fix it, and tell myself…damnit, you’re getting up at __ in the morning, and I never can seem to do it…I just keep hitting the snooze, telling myself that I’ll get up in 10 more min, and next thing I know it’s 4 hours later. Please help!
