I do not consume caffeine anymore (it’s been about 8 years or so). I just ate a small/medium sized piece of chocolate cake. I wonder if anyone has a clue about how much caffeine would be in that? By the way, I do not eat/drink caffeine anymore due to panic disorder and anticipatory anxiety disorders. Thanks for your input.
I also take Xanax, Buspar and Lexapro and have heard/read caffeine is not good to mix with these drugs. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with consuming caffeine and any of these medications together?

We have tried the nose strips and tried sleeping on his side. I am concerned it might be sleep apnea. It is just recently though. We have been together for 8 years and this just started.

What might be the causes/effects of snoring?

How far does it go when a person snores? My friend told me, when a kid who snores at his very young age he may have a heart problem. My son is 8 years old now and he snores a lot. At first I got worried but then I thought it’s just a hereditary since my father and even my younger brother were snoring too. How true this can be?

Insomnia advise please?

I’m a chronic insomniac and have been working with my DR. on the problem for the past 8 years. Any ideas on what can help. Here’s what hasn’t. Gave up caffine, bedroom used for sleeping only (no tv), regular exercise, routine bedtime rituals, not eating after a certain hour, hot bath 90 min before bed time. Making my bed the most comfortable place I know. Hypnosis (cured my smoking habit so I thought I’d try). Fan on in bedroom to drown out noises that could wake me up when I do fall asleep, aroma therapy, calming music, and reading books. OTC’s like including tylonol pm, and Nyquil. (works for a coupled days then doesn’t) RX such as Lunesta, Ambien and Rozerem (to mention a few) all with no results. The only thing that gives relief at all is Xanex, but it’s controlled and after 5 years on it, my tolerance is very high and it’s not working well anymore. Any suggestions? I need to get some sleep! Thanks
**oh, and I forgot to mention all the herbal products I tried. Please help.
I asked the dr about a sleep study, but she says it’s not sleep apnea, so it wouldn’t help. I asked for other benzos and she says I’ll have the same tolerance. I’m on both an antidepressant and an antihistamine, neither of which helped. Some great answers though. As for the pot, if it could be prescribed I absolutely would try, but at this time, it’d cost me my career. We have manditory testing at my job. Oh yeah, I’ve done the graveyard shift too. Same issue only worse. I know it seems I have an answer for almost anything, but keep trying please. 8 years is far too many and I’m fed up. Thanks so much!!

How do I stop my husband from snoring?

It’s gotten really bad lately, and it keeps me up at night. I yell "stop snoring", kick him, and that will make him stop for about 2 minutes, but then it starts again. (He never remembers my yelling or kicks in the morning, so I don’t feel bad.) He never snored in 8 years of marriage until 6 months ago. He’s in his mid 30′s, is extremely fit and is at or below his ideal weight, and has had no change in health. He says the snoring is because he’s "exhausted." It’s true that he is working longer hours these days. But in any case, the snoring needs to stop! I’m going nuts!

I’m exhausted but I can’t sleep at night…I’ve been getting four hours a night, not counting the times I wake up in the middle of the nights. Are any OTC or prescription sleep aids safe to use? What other remedies would solve my problem?

*I’ve had sleeping problems for about 8 years now, but have been sleeping well regularly since May. Now, it seems to be a problem again.

I have chronic insomnia. It started probably 8 years ago. On an initial appointment with a new OBGYN, my doctor asked if I was on the pill. I answered yes, and he advised me to go off of it because over time, the pill interferes with serotonin levels. I did that, and in a week was sleeping like a baby. Then, over the course of time, my sleeping problems came back. It has been years on and off of sleep aids. I have tried Valerian root, melatonin, tylenol pm, and of course the prescription stuff, but then I end up a zombie the next day. I read about 5-htp and was wondering whether or not this might be a solution.
