Is it unhealthy to sleep at like 1am – 2am until 7am? I hate sleep and think it wastes time, especially when you can be using that time to do something constructive.
Last night I went to sleep at 4.30am and was up at 9am.
I just don’t like sleeping.

Good luck!
Some people can sleep for a less amount of time and be perfectly fine, but there is a certain amount that you should strive to get per night. If you do not get enough sleep over a long period of time, it is proven to start effecting the brain in ways including paranoia, schizophrenia, suicidal and homicidal thoughts, etc. Try to get AT LEAST 4 hours of sleep. 6 hours is much better. 8-9 hours is perfect.
Lucky dog, I wish I could go on that much sleep =)
If you get at least 4 hours per day/night…it is functional. I enjoy sleep and rest. I require about twice your requirement. See the article below…
Some bodies are able to run on less sleep than others. Also, it’s an age thing…younger people can go with less sleep (or maybe when we get older, our bodies want to catch up from our insomnia from years past).
I understand why you’d want to use more time doing stuff. If you sleep the usual 8 hours and work 8 hours, that only gives you 8 hours of the day left for other things, which may include commuting, eating, showering, etc. Thus, in an entire lifetime, you’ll have worked a 3rd of your life (including schooling), as well as slept away a 3rd of your life.
But sleeping is a necessity. It allows you to recharge your body. Your brain gets time to organize its thoughts and forget about your problems.
Sleep deprivation is unhealthy, and it can affect your performance. If you become sleepy after eating a full meal, that’s a sign that you’re not getting enough sleep. Just study yourself, and find out what the minimum number of hours of sleep that you need. Mine has changed throughout the years. I used to get by with 5 or 6 hours, then 10-11 hours, and now more like 7 hours.
it all depends how it affects you . . . I work overnight and generally get 4-5 hrs of sleep a night(day) . . . but it does occasionally catch up with me . . .
I know that I personally don’t need more than 5-6 hours of sleep a night. I’m usually running from 8 AM to 3 or 4 AM.
So long as you’re not feeling any adverse affects of the supposed lack of sleep, I think you’re fine.
What time you go to sleep doesnt affect your health, its how much sleep you get that isnt good for you, lack of sleep or too much sleep is bad for your health, try to get at least 6.5 hours each night and that should be good enough.
