Is it safe for a T1 diabetic to use sleeping pills?

Or is it an incredibly bad idea? I just mean occasional usage of OTC, non-habit forming sleeping pills.
If they were prone to hypoglycemic episodes during the night, would that be a definite no to sleeping pills?

Due to other physical problems that included insomnia, I take a very large dose of sleeping pills- prescription.
If I have a low, my body seems to wake me.
Discuss this with your health care team.
Do you have good hypoawareness, meaning do you wake up pretty quickly in the middle of the night if you go low? If so, then I don’t think you’d have a problem. If you had problems with that (everybody’s different), then I’d recommend against it because even OTC sleep aids can put you in a pretty intense REM sleep, and you might not jolt awake as easily.
i am a t1 i have never had any problem. but i would suggest testing before bed. and or eat a snack.
there shouldn’t be a problem, however if you tend to have low blood sugar episodes at night, it would probably be a good idea to check with your doctor. it would probably be a good idea to check with your doctor anyways just to be on the safe side.
It really depends on what you are taking. If you are actually taking a sleeping pill ie sominex or something ot the like what you are really taking is benedryl, which may have warnings not to use. As an alternative you may want to consider using melatonin, which is usually found with the vitamins. It is a natural type vitamin that induces sleep.
