Is it possible to have withdrawal symptoms from Oxycodone after only 1 week?

I had nasal surgery a week ago and was prescribed Oxycodone for pain. I only took it for about 6 days but now I’m having this horrible insomnia. Could it be withdrawal from the Oxycodone even though I didn’t take it that long?

Oxycodone may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
* upset stomach
* constipation
* dry mouth
If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
* rapid or slow heartbeat
* trouble breathing
* hives
* skin rash
* hallucinations
* yellowing of the skin or eyes
* headache
* vomiting
* dizziness
If you experience a serious side effect, you or your doctor may send a report to the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online [at http://www.fda.gov/MedWatch/report.htm or by phone [1-800-332-1088].
Psychological withdrals can be felt a lot time after such meds. But physical withdrals. NO.
IT COULD BE, CALL YOUR DOCTOR AND ASK HIM.
YES, i know someone who takes it and sometimes when they run out before the prescription is renewed again, they have problems.
yes, you should talk to your doc about weaning you off it instead of quitting cold turkey.
yes
Yes, that is very possible. Insomnia is a side effect of the drug anyway.
One of the side effects of Oxycodone is insomnia. If you took it for a week, and have totally stopped taking it do not worry about it. However, if you have continued to take it when you do not need it you have become dependant upon it. Stop cold turkey and you will be fine.
Good luck
yep, and be very careful…the withdrawals can make you really sick.
It absolutely can be withdrawal symptoms from Oxycodone. Some people are predisposed to become addicted to these kinds of drugs. Hang in there buddy! If you are really worried about it you should call your Dr. and see if they can give you something short term for this : AmbienCr , Lunesta, the like. They don’t mind prescribing these medicines for short term solutions and they work!
Absolutely. Oxycodone is a very addictive drug with bad side affects. Insomnia would be one of the withdrawal symptoms, even after only taking it a week. However, after only taking it for a week the symptoms should disappear within a few days.
I ran NA for about 7 years so it is possible.Maybe you should get a hold of you’re doctor and see what he/she says. It may also just be insomnia.I had nasal surgery and was not off of the meds for about a month so you are doing good. but truly if you’re cconcerend get a hold of someone.
Yes it’s possible. Everyone reacts somewhat differently to it. Doctors overprescribe that drug which is horribly addictive. You can’t go back and undo it now so just try your best to get through the next few days until it works its way out of your system. One thing I’ve learned… Even if I’m prescribed a medication for pain, I might fill the prescription – just in case – but I’ll do my best to avoid using the heavy-duty drugs. It’s amazing what you can tolerate without too much discomfort without taking anything or just using OTC medications. And I avoid many side-effects also like rebound headaches and feelings of nausea. It’s a good way to go.
Yes you can. Drink a lot of water to purge your system of that nasty drug. I had the same issue with Vicoden, but I was nervy, not insomniatic.
And I occasionally have an LSD flashback from all that I did in the early 80′s! I am not kidding. When it happens, I just remove myself from any possible situations and it subside within an hour. It’s weird.
Yes, Yes and Yes that stuff is some strong Sh*T and not to be played with….consult your doctor about withdrawal reactions you may be having….below is a little bit about Oxy and if you want you can read the full article by following the link.
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take oxycodone and talk to your doctor if you experience
constipation;
dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, or decreased appetite;
dizziness, tiredness, or lightheadedness;
muscle twitches;
sweating;
itching;
decreased urination; or
decreased sex drive.
Do not stop taking oxycodone suddenly if you have been taking it continuously for more than 5 to 7 days. Stopping suddenly could cause withdrawal symptoms and make you uncomfortable. Your doctor may want to gradually reduce the dose.
Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
Yes it could be. Everyone’s body reacts differently due to different body systems, chemicals, etc. It definately could be that. Most doctors recommend slowly lowering dosage, I guess yours didn’t! Your symptoms should go away relatively quickly, although thats not helping you now. Something else they don’t tell you is that the more you take it, the more you’ll need. The human body builds up resistance to opiates pretty quickly, meaning you’ll need more & more to get the same effect. You could also possibly have an allergy to opiates / morphine. Since you have that in your system I wouldn’t take any sleeping aids. Try warm milk (eww..I know), and chamomile tea. Also safe is marijuana for sleep, if that’s something you use, although I wouldn’t know if that works. Good luck & be careful!!
YES YOU CAN AND MOST LIKELY WILL HAVE WITHDRAWAL SYMTOMS AFTER ONLLY ONE WEEK try tylonal pm to help you sleep
YES! oxycondone is one of the most addicting meds out there i would talk to my doctor
yes
Yes, this is possible. My sister had prolonged withdrawal symptoms from some synthetic opiate used after a C-section. It depends on the person. Some have high tolerance to these types of drugs. After my surgery, I was on Oxycodone for 5 days and experienced no problems (except increased pain at the surgery site). Everyone is different. For instance, I can’t tolerate any anasthetic w/epinephrine in it! (such as Novacaine).
IN my search, I found a forum that might help you:

If you had such extreme withdrawal, you probably should avoid use of it in the future and ask the doctor about an alternative pain med.
