This has to be really frustrating for you! Sorry to hear it. You sound as though you try to be really healthy. Not sure if you drink any caffeinated beverages but if so, try go decaf for awhile to see if it helps. I went decaf a couple of years ago and sleep much better! And I’m not a coffee drinker – just some soda and ice tea. If you have a lot of stress, that can cause sleep loss. Next time you wake up in the middle of the night, try writing out your concerns. This will allow you to let them go for the night because you won’t be afraid of forgetting what needs to be taken care of. Also, since you don’t eat meat, you might want to check your protein intake and increase it a bit before bedtime. When you wake up in the middle of the night and realize you are not getting back to sleep right away, don’t just lay there. Try reading a book for a bit, working a crossword puzzle or something similar. Finally you might want to make sure you don’t use your bedroom for watching TV, eating, or other activities similiar to those. This way when you are in your room, you are preparing for sleep or sleeping. Good luck getting some good rest.
Have you tried chamomile tea? If herbals are okay for you.
TRY working out a few hours before going to bed , it will get your body tired and ready for rest> don’t eat 3-4 hours before going to bed, but a nice herbal (sleep time) tea is not a bad idea. (NO CAFFEINE OR SUGARS BEFORE GOING TO SLEEP)
Pleasant dreams!!!
Try melatonin. It’s gentle & natural. You can tet it at the drugstore. It works for me every time; it just makes you nice & drowsy. Good dreams, too!
I used to have the same problem. Do you know why you can’t sleep? For me it was because I had a lot of stress. If you have some underlying problems for not being able to sleep, solving those problems will obviously help you out.
in the meantime, if you don’t want to take medicine for it, you may want to try some tea (without caffeine) in it like the previous user suggested.
Try chamomile tea about 30 minutes before bedtime or lavendar on sprayed on your pillow.
You also need an attitude adjustment you are very angry within your question start meditating/praying/ to relax your mind its so busy being annoyed at people no wonder you can’t sleep
I’m sorry you’re having such sleep problems, my first advice is don’t panic – you will sleep. The more you don’t sleep, the more stressed you get, the more you worry and on it goes. It sounds like either you have worries on your mind that are waking you up at pretty much the same time every night or there is actually a noise or something happening that’s waking you up. I would recommend you take a look at this website, it has some good, natural ideas for insomnia. I’ve tried a couple and they *do* work.

sometimes when a person cant sleep at night it means that you can be suffering from some form of anxiety or your overly excited about something.. The best thing that you can so is when you cant sleep, you can pray and think about being in a good and happy place. Pleasant dreams!!
There are many things you can try. Do your exercising in the morning instead of at night. Eliminate coffee and soda. Drink chamomile tea before bed, or even warm milk, if you drink it. If you drink green or black tea, don’t do it in the evening. Get up early in the morning so you’re likely to be tired at night. If you’re worrying about things, try listening to calming music, or watch a very boring tv show that will put you to sleep. Make sure your room is a good temperature. You should be able to work through this soon. Sleep tight!
i foyu use you bed for any thing other than sleep and sex stop.
drink warm milk, try taking some herbs.
I was the same way! Try drinking tea, listening to classical music, use an eye mask. Do you not take meds because you don’t want to or are there other reasons? I have a child so I didn’t want to take meds to sleep because I was afraid I wouldn’t hear him if he woke up, Advil PM has worked for me. It doesn’t knock me out and it’s not addictive. Good luck!
when you are woke back up, you could have a sleeping problem called sleep apnea= a lot of people have this =see a Dr and go get a sleep test done =it wont hurt and OHIP covers the cost =good luck
When I have a hard time falling asleep, I have a cup of "Sleepy Time" tea. It is caffeine free and has all kinds of soothing herbs to relax you, and it’s delicious. It’s made by Cestual Seasons, you can buy it at any major food store. Sweet dreams!
P.S. I know that I spelled the first word of the of brand wrong, but it’s something like that.
i might be able to help…first of all, try a relaxation therapy like maybe try drinking some chamomile tea before dozing to sleep. If that dosent work then try this ritual in the bed: start from your toes and work your way up. Reach your toes out as far as you can and gently loosen them up,then go to your shoulders and left them as high as you can then lower them down slowy, the after you’ve done that close your mouth and eyes, breathe through your nose and relax. It works for me all the time!
I find that a nice long warm shower using lavender bod wash helps a lot. Take the shower about 30 minutes before bed, and do not dry your hair too much – wrap your hair in a towel and let it dry while you sleep.
Read up on Calcium and magnesium. The old home remedy of drinking warm milk is because the calcium in the milk will help you get to sleep and it’s warmed because it gets your stomach digesting faster.
Look for a 500 mg calcium with vitamin D, your body can’t absorb calcium without the vitamin d and it won’t absorb more than 500 mg at a time. I recommend taking one about 4 hours before bedtime and one each hour until you go to sleep. Your body will get rid of what you don’t need in your urine.
Magnesium is also sometimes called Nature’s sedative, it can also help when taken near bedtime.
Tylenol PM works everytime…Sweet Dreams.
Napqueen suggested melatonin, which is the pigment found in human skin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter, it is a natural substance, and yes, it can help you sleep. what it actually does is help "reset" your internal clock, allowing you to sleep better. I don’t know if this is something that you would take, due to your beliefs. I used to have the same problem – all of my life, in fact, until I began working a job from 3pm to 11pm. After work, I’d go out & hang out, and often wouldn’t go to bed until 8am or so. The point is, I was truely tired when I went to bed, so I had no trouble falling & then staying asleep. I don’t know if you have the luxury of rearranging your schedule, but trying to reach a state of true exhaustion before trying to sleep may work. Also, develop a "bed time routine" and stick to it.
No judgment from me! I’m a diagnostic and therapeutic minimalist and I’m very pleased that an intelligent person is trying to solve their problem BY REACHING OUT FOR CARING HELP. Good for you for respecting yourself.
You sound bright enough and OK, so I’d bet against major medical issues or simple logistics.
Here’s an idea: take advantage of the awake time. Learn to embrace it in silence. Pray and meditate and be grateful. Stay very quiet within and without. Time for personal inventory –deep inside, what’s bothering you? — is very valuable.
External substances like pills are not a very good answer –same applies to "naturals" except for their explicit comforting effect, not as drug analogs. The reasons are a bit long and complex.
Keep it simple and continue being good to yourself.
Best to you.
i avoid drugs and believe in natural is better so its good to hear someone not runing down the easy path of ( quick i cant sleep what drug do u recommend)!
well i some times cant sleep so i play a nice relaxing cd in the back ground. and i find it really sothing and calming, and il always fall a sleep straight away! my sister used to play relaxation tapes and they help you relax your whole body, and focus on your breathing! and try peppermint tea to.
