How to cure insomnia?
Pretty simple story, I’ve had the flu (not swine) and about half way through I lost the ability to fall asleep quickly, it takes me about 2 hours at least and then I keep waking up.
My parents won’t take me to get proper sleeping pills as well, reasons are irrelevant. I’ve tried herbal, they calm me down so I can be comfortable but I’m not falling asleep!
So, ideas for how to get a good nights rest?

If herbs only calm you down but don’t get you to sleep you should try to do something about your sleeping routine and what to do before
Yes exercising during the day helps, taking a hot shower or bath before you go to sleep, drinking a glass of warm milk, small bedtime snack they all can help
But also try to relax before you go to bed, don’t focus on your sleeping problem because that will make it worse. You think about not being able to get to sleep later on this by itself will keep you from falling asleep, sort of self fulfilling prophecy
Massages and sex can help (since your parents decide for you if or not to take sleeping pills I’m not sure you’re at the right age for this last one…;-), meditating, yoga, praying, tai-chi, simply taking time to shift your mind and reflect your day…just take your mind off of trying to fall asleep
Our bodies are routine junkies so developing a sleeping routine might just do the trick
One final one is to try acupressure, you apply pressure on certain points in your body to help you relax and fall asleep. I heard from an acupressure point known as the "Inner Gate." This point is between the 2 tendons in your wrist about 3 fingers from the point where your hand is attached to your wrist. Pressure on this point is meant to help you sleeping
In most insomnia cases it goes away after 3 or 4 weeks and you’ll be able to fall asleep again. If however it lasts longer than this you should contact your doctor. Even sooner if it interferes with your job or school or ability to function normally
Hopefully this will help a bit, good luck and sleep tight
I know you are sick but exercise would help

If herbal teas don’t help, you could try scents. Vanilla and lavender in particular are calming scents. A hot shower will help, too. The hot water will relax you and make you feel good once you’re done.
Also, and I know it’s hard to do when you’re ill, but make certain you stay up all day. Try to stay out of your bedroom except for sleeping and make certain that it’s cool and dark (it really does help you sleep). If that doesn’t work, don’t stay in bed. It’ll just make you cranky. Get up and read or do something calming. No mental stimulation!
Good luck!
There are several things you can try.
1. See a Doctor
2. Take a Warm Bath – It’s a great way to relax your body. Don’t overdo it, however. You merely want to relax your body, not exhaust it. Too long in hot water and your body is drained of vitality.
3. Get a Massage – Have your spouse (or whoever) give you a massage just before going to sleep. If you can convince them to give you a full body massage, great. If not, even a short backrub and/or a face and scalp massage can be a big help. Have them make the massage strokes slow, gentle, yet firm, to work the tension out of your muscles and soothe you to sleep.
4. Listen to Music – Play some soft, soothing music that will lull you to sleep. There are even cassettes and records designed for that very purpose. Some are specially composed music, others simply have sounds of waves rhythmically breaking, or the steady pattern of a heartbeat.
5. Drink Warm Milk – A glass of warm milk 15 minutes before going to bed will soothe your nervous system. Milk contains calcium, which works directly on jagged nerves to make them (and you) relax.
6. Drink Herb Tea – If you don’t like milk—or are avoiding dairy products—try a cup of hot camomile, catnip, anise or fennel tea. All contain natural ingredients which will help you sleep. Most health food stores will also have special blends of herb tea designed to soothe you and help you get to sleep.
Watch Jay Leno, or read about Obama.
Lots of prayer. Try drinking warm milk right before you lay down. Again pray to God and ask him to help you. It works.
hi, your father are right, meds is not the best choice to cure insomnia. because the side effect is always existing.
here is some natural way you can try:
1. if you feel it is time to wake up, just wake up and get up. do not oversleep. oversleep will often lead to insomnia next night.
2. 4-5 hours before you sleep, just do some exercise about 20minutes,like walking, cycling is good choice.
3. never try to Force you to sleep. if you feel it is hard to fall sleep. do something you can do, do not force you to sleep. the more you force the harder you can sleep.
