How does the amount of sleep affect how tired you are during the day?
I don’t think the way I worded the question is too great, but I mean I usually sleep 4 maybe 4 1/2 hours on a school night and during school I’m tired and maybe can’t concentrate for like 15 mins. When I sleep for 6 hours though, I can’t stay awake and usually fall asleep… Once I didn’t sleep at all and didn’t fall asleep in class but I did feel really wierd and light. On weekends I sleep for like 10 hrs+ and I just feel heavy and lazy when I wake up. I wake up at 7:00am and sleep around 3 or 2:30am. Sometimes my eyes hurt in the morning… like they sting and I usually have to close my eyes during my shower. I wear contacts, but I don’t sleep in them, if that has to do with anything. I know it isn’t good to not get enough sleep, but I just can’t sleep earlier. Why do I feel more tired when I sleep 6 hrs instead of 4 hrs? How many hours of sleep should I have? I’m 13 and female.
I am aware I should get more sleep (thanks for the tips though). What I want to know is how come when I sleep 4 hours I’m not nearly as tired as I am when I sleep 6 hours?
Also: No, I am not partying.
Also: The sleep apnea thing freaked me out, but I don’t think I have it because when I sleep enough I am not tired.

1. 6 to 8 hours of sleep every night – regardless of school night or weekend.
2. Get to sleep at the same time each night.
3. try to use your bedroom for sleeping only. Too much tv watching or studying in there can mess up your going to bed rituals.
4. Lay off sodas, etc about 3 to 4 hours before bed.
5. You may be experiencing sleep apnea. this is when you stop breathing in your sleep for a few seconds – but it can happen many times each night. If this is the case you will feel worn out when you wake up.
6. Get a regular excercise program going – just not right before you go to bed.
I work nights and sleep days – have done this for 15 years – I try to follow all of the above, and have slept like a baby for most of that time.
You should get 8 hours of sleep a day. Your body keeps what is called a sleep debt, and it will collect it’s debt!
You’re body says you’re not getting enough sleep, babe. Once it starts getting some, it really tries to catch up. Try to stay on an even keel all the time, like, 7 hours / night. Are you worrying about school during the week? Partying too much? That 3 or 2:30 a.m. stuff is ridiculous! 11:00 p.m. is enough, at your age. Try it for 2 weeks and see how you feel. (Think you can stand feeling really happy?)
you are not getting enough sleep. stop worrying about school. and stop thinking about your homework so much. and stop procrastinating. because according to gallagher, you procrastinate too much. so please. do us all a favor and go sit in a corner and cry. like taki. lmfao. hahaahaha
