help yourself remember dreams, try to get well rested. Try to spend a few moments remembering everything you can from your dreams immediately after you wake up. The more you concentrate on it, the more you’ll train yourself to remember. Also it can help to write down notes from what you remember, and think back on it later in the day to see if you remember more. Also the more you think about it, the more likely your brain will consider it a priority which will make it easier to learn to remember. It’s just training your memory not to discard it so fast is mostly it. Do this, and over time it should help you remember more easily. Also, think about your commitment to wanting to remember your dreams, think about it just before you go to sleep. It seems to trigger the brain and your memory to pay more attention.
To increase REM sleep, you just have to sleep more hours, but there’s always a limitation, the most that anyone’s ever slept without being sleep deprived is probably 12hrs. If you’re sleep deprived, depending on how many days without sleep, you can sleep for 48-72hrs. REM only occurs after you exit the deep sleep stage, but to remember your dreams is difficult, it depends on the condition that your mind is in. Sometimes, your mind can be cognizant of the dreams sometimes it can’t and you can’t force the issue, it just happends naturally. Dreams are not meant to be remembered, they’re just a period of time while we sleep that our minds are still working.
