I have been taking Trazodone for years and want to get off of it. No matter what I do I can’t seem to sleep without it. Largely due to stress in my life.

Both herbal and homeopathic remedies are commonly used alternatives to sleeping tablets in reducing insomnia, and can be very effective in helping to assist an individual in the transition to peaceful slumber without strong sedatives or any concerning side effects.
Certain herbs such as Hypericum perforatum (St. Johns Wort), Scuttelaria laterifolia, Passiflora incarnata (PassionFlower) can be used to maintain healthy sleep patterns and promote optimal balance of sleep-related hormones involved in the sleep cycle.
Homeopathic remedies such as Coffea C30 and Nux Vom. C30 are also used to reduce insomnia and maintain restful, satisfying, and healthy sleep. Other natural supplements that are widely used to address the underlying causes of chronic insomnia are calcium lactate, magnesium lactate and vitamin B6.
You may get more info on all of these from this article http://www.healthherbsandnutrition.com/remedies/i/insomnia.htm
Hope all this helps
Good Luck
Valerian is a good natural sleep aid. Melatonin is also supposed to be really good. I’ve tried the melatonin and it didn’t do anything for me…but I hear a lot of praise about it.
If you can’t sleep due to stress, you need to deal with that issue. Really, talk to your doctor. You may want to consider counsilling to deal with your stress.
The answer is not trying to knock you out but to help you settle your mind before you go to sleep.
A relaxing bath in lavender and chamomile. a cup of St. Johns Worth tea. A fresh turned down bed with good and fresh air flow through a clean room.
I hope that will help
trysomethingobvious.com has two products for sleep: one called sleep pro which is a melatonin base product and the second is simply called "sleep", which contains a variety of herbs inclusive of St. John’s wort which can help you with the stress. Also, they have a product called "Stress Less", which may provide the answer you really need.
Marijuana is a natural way to help you sleep. If you live in a medical marijuana state talk to your doctor about it other wise you would have to buy from a dealer.
A good and SAFE one is Catnip. GO Organic though because it is in the mint family and the non organic kind doesn’t taste good or look like catnip (it should be green). Catnip is a soothing relaxant and is non addictive (Valerian is) and isn’t a ragweed (Chamomile is).
It tastes like mint and can be taken as a nice steeped tea b4 bed as needed.
Others without such good taste but powerful use are:
Skullcap (bitter)
Passionflower (again bitter)
Valerian is a nervine and it smells like old stinky socks and to get that into your mouth will be a task! though it is useful for those with NERVE problems, ie: pinched nerves etc…
Chamomile should not be used for more than 5 days in a row as it may cause a ragweed allergy in those that have no ragweed allergies.
Below is a link to many many herbs. You can find all that I have mentioned in there, these are reputable HERBALISTS and will give you the right path to follow.
Sweet dreams. Let’s hope it is a nice easy cup of tea that allows you some rest!
A form of self hypnosis.
By telling your self to relax your right arm and then your left arm breathe easily, regularly and without difficulty.
Calm the mind, relax the right leg then the left leg.then your stomach and head.
Then feel the body start to begin a relaxing warmth as though you are in a warm bath?
Tell yourself you are going to have the best sound refreshing sleep and that this fitness will stay with you.
Sleep should and will come easily.
Good luck
