Are there any sleep aids that are safe to use during the first trimester?
I’m exhausted but I can’t sleep at night…I’ve been getting four hours a night, not counting the times I wake up in the middle of the nights. Are any OTC or prescription sleep aids safe to use? What other remedies would solve my problem?
*I’ve had sleeping problems for about 8 years now, but have been sleeping well regularly since May. Now, it seems to be a problem again.

check with your OB but most of them will agree that a low dose of benedryl is okay to take in the first trimester. I know for a fact that ambien is a no-no in the first trimester…LOL I was in the same situation..insomniac in misery since my son was born 4 years ago…getting through this recent pregnancy was miserable…no sleep for 9 months. For what it’s worth I’ve been sleeping great since my daughter was born 2 weeks ago!
PLEASE don’t take advise from people online about this. Call your doctor and ask her/him. Only a doctor should be giving you ideas as to what to do with this problem.
I was told I can take Tylenol pm and that was it… but this was later on in the pregnancy. I would call my doctor and ask… Or call the answering service at your clinic and ask a nurse.
They say to wait till after 12 weeks
then
Tylenol pm is safe but not every night
talk to your Dr
i dont think u can take anything to make u go to sleep. i suggest talking to your doctor about this concern. maybe he/she can help you.
i had the SAME problem when i was pregnant. you can take one benadryl. that helped me..knocked me out. lol try that and if it doesn’t work..talk to your doctor. i know at the end of your pregnancy you can take some other sleep aids…but i think thats because your past the "starting point". so try the benadryl…and if it doesn’t work-check with your doctor.
you shouldnt really be taking drugs in your first trimester
Benadryl and Chamomile tea are both pregnancy approved by my doctor and several others.
Sorry but there’s not much you can take beside Tylenol but the again i would ask a nurse
